Good, legalising weed was the biggest mistake Thailand has made in the last 10 years, the only reason it was legalised in the first place was because the fat cats in charge at the time had their greas

Why do I feel this will make a mockery of what a hospital/clinic is....next move will be tightening/enforcing what a is a hospital/clinic. Oh Thailand, is it so hard to follow other countries.

Getting the medical marijuana prescription in California really lowered my opinion of doctors. They all resemble that doctor in Cannonball Run.

The valuable thing is that this skepticism helped me avoid getting a Covid shot. It takes doctors off their pedestal.

IMO, this was predictable from over a year ago.  When the dust settles, there will still be dispensaries and plenty of weed for sale.  But it'll be dominated by the powerful families with the deep pockets and the stroke to have the connections to get the permits and hire the "doctors".

Everyone else in the value chain will make peanuts.  Just like smokes and beer and (for the most part) booze.

I can see a law suite being brought by disgruntled weed shop owners against the government why did they issue 11,000 + licenses I think my friend paid 6,000 baht for one year plus the cost of  setting the shop up plus long term rental agreements with Landlords if successful in a court of law it could cost the government millions in compensation

Great, Thailand is still trying to recover economically from the scamdemic so they are going to put tens of thousands of people out of work again.  This is while the government and the banking sector is working hard to chase farangs out of the country.  This sounds like a set up for a Marxist revolution and power grab.  Who is going to be this century's Josef Stalin?

Marxist revolution? Wow, that’s a heck of a segway from the current state of Thai politics.

Good, legalising weed was the biggest mistake Thailand has made in the last 10 years, the only reason it was legalised in the first place was because the fat cats in charge at the time had their greasy fingers in the cannabis pie, most Thais were dead against it, but they didnt have a choice, as were all the countries surrounding Thailand ( notice how not one followed Thailands progressive policy of legalisation 🤣 ) the massive downside of the softening of the rules did nothing but attract criminal gangs from all over the world, who took advantage of Thailands pathetic law enforcement to ship huge amounts out of the country to wherever it was needed, Thailand became the new Amsterdam, and anyone who needs a lesson from history should look at what happened there, a criminal, scum infested cesspit of a place , its no suprise that the explosion of cocaine in Thailand directly coincides with the legalisation of cannabis, one drug attracts the other

I don't know about the biggest. There are SO many to choose from

Here's a novel idea, why don't the handful of anti cannabis stalwarts open their own anti cannabis thread and then they can virtue signal to each other to their hearts content.  Instead of coming on threads like this for no other reason than antagonise other members who come here for information

Its nothing short of trolling they should be suspended,

No much better to stir the pot [pun intended] here

Ignorant nonsense from beginning to end. As for your description of Amsterdam as a 'criminal, scum infested, cesspit of a place ' I suggest you should withdraw that comment at your earliest convenience.

Totally agree I lived and worked in the Netherlands for a few years I never heard of any issues with the weed cafes and although I don’t participate in it I used to frequent the cafes as one of my friends enjoyed the odd spliff

Folks every weed smoker in Thailand whos worth their salt has quite a long list of weed contacts by now ......Point being they wont be buying from the shops.....All the doctor prescription nonsense is strictly for the sheep and the tourist.....

Is the correct answer !

Why not just allow sales at pharmacies. Close all these illegal shops. How can a dispensary be transitioned into a medical clinic? Nonesense.

Those "illegal shops" are legal... people invested their savings in those legal businesses and then the out of touch government compounds their blunders with these new insane regs. How many billions of baht will be lost due to this shortsighted idiocy?

BTW I last puffed in 1985 and have maybe 2 glasses of wine a year

I believe Thailand's vision of a few dispensaries open and spread throughout the city, being discreet and blending into the surroundings didn't materialize.  Then the problem and pressure from destination countries for smugglers asking Thailand for change.

I would have made it a lottery draw for X amount of licenses/permits.  Can't be open within X distance of a school or Temple.  Promotion and Advertising material would be limited to in shop, none front shop window locations.

I believe Thai, public, and tourist acceptance would have been higher.

I haven't experienced any more nuisances from neighbors who smoke, eat the drug vs. people who drink.

Unfortunately as mentioned with Thai culture and the oversight and Policing required the changes had to occur at the Government level.

My question is if a dispensary owner who signed a multi year lease would be allowed to break/cancel any remaining portion once the law/requirements are active?

Never actually legal, as the decriminalisation was for medicinal purposes only... How many of these shops checked the legality of the customers...I suggest not a single one.

So your mind is clouded either by other meds, or you're just plain simple dumb...which is it.

Observers note this could significantly alter the landscape of cannabis sales in the country.

Or destroy cannabis sales altogether and immediately. Not my cup of tea but the youngsters seem to love it and they're back in droves.

Never mind, Vietnam is a great spot I hear and Cambodia is very cheap. Another example of foot shooting by the manignificently inept Thai government. They have obviously been taking lessons from Starmer and his cronies.

Yup. I was there. If you had any prescription for anything, you'd get it. You were supposed to bring SOME kind of medical documentation. Here, there will be a witch doctor with a bone through their nose.

Be careful , if you beat him with common sense and facts, he will call you a girlie.

If you really upset him and if he's drank enough to give him the Dutch courage, he will tell you that you are off topic. :shock1:
