I'm just repeating what you've said. You dismiss books over personal experience, which can be limited. Reading bolsters your knowledge on any subject. I don't dismiss experience, as I had to work out to get stronger, but learning how to helped along the way. I learned how to fish from my dad, but books taught me much more afterwards. I never go to hunt with my dad. He stopped when I started. He only shot a couple of deer, but I've shot over 100, many of which I took by learning their habits from reading up on them, and some by personal experience. Reading gives you more knowledge on anything. If you just go by experience it takes longer to have the same amount of knowledge. Shortcuts help in any endeavor. -

Should I return to the UK - difficult decision!
Yes, I have agreed to rent it, but it takes 2. The landlord will only rent it to me if I view it in person. I'm happy to rent 'unseen'. So I need to return to the UK. If the landlord doesn't rent it to me, then I have to stay in hotels until I find an alternative property. That cost is typically at least 60 quid a night, which (in my opinion) is a rip-off! -

Well, if you made an enquiry, I hope you are good at riding horses and game-shooting 🙂 The property is in an isolated location in Exmoor, so probably 50 others are not queuing up for that particular property 🙂
