The taxman will catch him out .

When he does his tax returns they will notice he isn't in the UK

 What Tax returns?

If he claims welfare he will not need to do one!

  • Don't knock him, if you lived in Mansfield you would have taken Beirut or Dhaka as better options too.

  • i'm not up to date with the visa rules and regulations. how is it legally possible to simply move to thailand with a young family and decide to live here ?

He's gone for a long holiday.

Wait till he learns it's very expensive to put children into school in Thailand. He claims he is going to home school them which is incredibly selfish in my opinion. Schooling is not just about education.

Wait till he learns his travel insurance will have to be replaced by health insurance in Thailand after a year out of living in the UK, most travel insurances become invalid.

Wait till he learns rental is not that cheap.

Wait till he navigates the visa process.

Thailand is not as cheap as he thinks it is.

He claims he is going to do social media and generate income. Him and the thousands of others.

The UK Needs new laws in this generation that if you leave the country for a year you are no longer a citiizen.

He has researched ALL those issues you refer to. Both him and his wife can get jobs as TEFL teachers. Starting of with a certificate then working up to a PhD and working at the same time.

You are very negative; have you been in Thailand too long?

I came here in 1990 with a one way ticket and £200 in my pocket and no work. Things worked out fine!

Go ask Thai's how you feel they are treated.

UK whilst it has it's problems, offers (through taxation) children free education, some of the best universities in the world that cost very little for the local population, free health care (you may knock it, but getting bills here in Thailand is scary), little pollution levels, some fantastic cities like London, actually has safer statsitics than Thailand for crime, etc

One month wait for GP appointment, 5,000 stabbings a month in London..Thailand has free education 👍

What a load of bo11ocks.

Have you been to the UK recently?

Rents are a fraction of UK prices and going largely 'Thai style' will see a reduction in food bills.

Good luck to the guy, and his family.

He's going to do home schooling as well as regular school. They, the kids will be far better off than England where 90 infants have been banned from nursery  school for...TRANSPHOBIA!. This is the BS they're teaching in English schools nowadays.

Yeah... What is missing from this puff piece is how he plans to support his family 🤔🤷 Has he arranged a work contract? Is he planning on funding the move with social media content? Does he have an inheritance? WTFK?😎

It's not. His children will need to get into a school, and they are high fees (except 700,000 upwards a year for most international schools - and he has two kids) to try and obtain a visa.

He doesn't plan to put his kids in school, so unless he forks out massive fees on the Thai Elite visa (which is very expensive unless your a big baller) then i can only assume he will be obtaining the standard visa application, then when it runs out he will have to be doing visa runs, and they are hammering down on them at immigration.

He says he's done visa research, so would be interesting to know what visa he is talking about, because there isn't any for his children.

No afraid not. And he didn't mention waiting times in the Accident and Emergency Department; up to 14 hours on a trolley in a corridor. With dozens of people milling around including drunks. The NHS has become a disaster zone. And the results are dreadful; third world!

Can usually get a G.P. appointment within a few days (not a month) and there are not 5000 stabbings in London a month

Everyone is talking about this family from the Thailand angle but none have been to Mansfield which is one of the worst places in the worst county in the North of England.

Mansfield is a sh!thole. And getting his kids out of there is doing them a BIG FAVOUR!

Anyone who thinks otherwise needs their head examined; preferably at an NHS hospital in Mansfield ( book now if you want to be seen in the next 18 months).

In a bold move, Dale Smith, an HGV driver from Nottinghamshire, is relocating his family to Thailand with just a suitcase and dreams, citing the unbearable living conditions in “Broken Britain.”

Frustrated by soaring bills and dreary weather, Smith, his wife Kim, and their children Noah and Molly will leave Mansfield for Bangkok this November, carrying little more than essentials.

Despite earning more, Smith feels trapped by financial pressures. “The prices are sky-high, and the streets are in a state,” he shared on TikTok. “We want to escape this routine.”

Selling their home and car, the Smiths plan to land in Thailand with savings and a sense of adventure. “We’re taking nothing but clothes. What else do we need?” Smith remarked.

Dissatisfaction is not only financial; the children find their education disengaging. The parents intend to homeschool them, incorporating practical skills and language learning.

“We’re not closing the door on formal education,” Smith clarified, ensuring the kids could pursue qualifications later.

The family's journey begins in Bangkok, moving to Hua Hin to determine living costs. Though their plans are fluid, Smith is unfazed. “We’ll probably rent a furnished place. One less worry.”

Smith’s TikTok has garnered 1.5 million views, resonating with those seeking a similar escape. “It’s scary but amazing, especially for the children,” he said, confident of an improved quality of life.

Having researched visas, flights, and costs meticulously, the family's ultimate goal is freedom rather than a strict plan.

“We’re not fleeing; we’re pursuing a better life,” Smith declared. They aim to document their travels online, potentially turning it into income.

With enough savings for a few years, Smith reassures that the UK remains an option if needed. “We can return anytime to spend quality time with family.”

His message to others: “Don’t live in regret. If you dream of change, don’t be afraid. Embrace life now.”

And so, the Smiths embark on this venture, driven by hope and the promise of new experiences.

A friend of mine has indicated that Horden is worse, maybe the worst in UK.  He was born there, and now works abroad with his family.  Quality of life is way above what he could have achieved in UK.

It's incredibly selfish to take kids of out of school and then not bother to put them into a school in Thailand. It's not just education, but surely friendships etc ?

I hope it works out well for them but I doubt both would be able to work (certainly not full-time) if they're going to homeschool the kids.

I was 37 when I came to Thailand - same reasons, same age but I had no kids. 20 years later I have a family and enjoy my life here. Have to admit, I've used all my lucky stars over the years and I find that, ultimately, Ive swapped 1 set of problems for another.

I think he will encounter difficulties, but all the very best of British luck to him.

To quell his jealousy I suspect.

He really seems to have a problem with how this family chooses to live their lives and raise their children.
