The Northeast (Isaan) region of Thailand is generally considered the least agriculturally productive area, due to a combination of factors including less fertile soils, vulnerability to drought, and a higher population density putting pressure on resources. While other regions also face agricultural challenges, Isaan's persistent poverty and reliance on agriculture make it particularly vulnerable.

Here's a more detailed look:
  • Infertile Soils:
The soils in the Northeast are naturally less fertile than those in other parts of Thailand, making it more challenging to achieve high crop yields.

  • Water Scarcity:
The region experiences frequent droughts, which can severely impact agricultural production, especially rain-fed agriculture.

  • Population Pressure:
A large population in the Northeast puts a strain on land resources and contributes to deforestation as more land is cleared for agriculture.

  • Poverty:
The Northeast is the poorest region in Thailand, and many people rely on agriculture for their livelihoods, making them more susceptible to the effects of poor harvests.

They say Aussies are all going to Nam. Maybe follow Paddy to Nam and go to every inch of it or whatever.

You asked me to name a restaurant, are you saying McDonald's is NOT classed or advertised as a restaurant..?    🤔

I'd put a bullet in my head before I'd live there.

I just discovered it. It's the one Australian product I like. Coconut yoghurt, probiotic. Not bad.

Apart from reading books, walking, gym there really isn't much to do and those things can be done anywhere.

You have an empty, disappointed, disatisfied, discontened life.....typical of many Westerners adrift in Thailand.

There "really isn't much to do" because there really isn't much to you.

It's nothing to do with wherever you are right now........Isaan or anywhere else.

Sorry to hear
