Could you be more specific about your objection?

Yes you put up the money.

Yes you pay a high interest if you don't pay it off every month.

What beyond that was required that you objected to?

From memory taking out multiple insurance policies required before application was one 🤔

  • For myself, the idea of a, “secured credit card” is ridiculous. No “credit” is being extended. I have kept my U.S. Credit Cards and have used them without issues over the 14 years residing here in Chi

Is it possible for foreigners on retirement visa to get a secured credit card with Thai banks? i.e. having a fixed deposit to guarantee the card.

It used to be. Maybe still is?

I obtained a secured Bangkok Bank credit when on a type -OA for reason of retirement in 2019, at age 65.

I obtained a Krungsri Bank secured credit card when on a type O for reason of retirement, in 2022 at age 68.

I still have both credit card at age 71.

However banking regulations tend to change so what was true yesterday is not always true today.

That is funny as I have 2 with them.

If you have no WP they give you a DEBITCARD

This is Thailand, One bank will say No...another branch of the same bank will say Yes.

Don't listen to what people may say, even good faith. Try for yourself and you'll usually end up in getting what you want, if you have the time and the energy to spare.

As a normal "Alien" with no firm or WP it will normally be a DK.   NO KK.
