In the early hours of July 21, a tragic accident in Pattaya has left a 24-year-old woman in critical condition. Chanaphon Huadsi was riding her white Honda Zoomer-X when she collided with a stationary van on Sukhumvit Road near Soi Siam Country Club at 3:30 am.

The crash shattered the rear windscreen of the Toyota Commuter van, leaving the motorbike wedged into the back. Ram Si Khao, the 56-year-old van driver, explained to Pattaya police that he had stopped at a red light when he heard the impact.

Upon hearing the crash, Ram Si Khao immediately called for assistance. Rescue workers from Sawang Boriboon Thammasathan, alongside medics from Bangkok Pattaya Hospital, arrived swiftly. They provided emergency treatment to Chanaphon before transferring her to Pattaya Hospital, where her condition remains critical.

Authorities are now reviewing CCTV footage and collecting evidence to determine the exact cause of the accident. The investigation continues as police seek to piece together the events leading up to the collision.

Such incidents are stark reminders of road safety issues in Thailand, where many accidents are attributed to high speeds and inattentiveness. As this investigation unfolds, it underscores the critical need for road awareness and caution.

The community watches closely, hoping for Chanaphon’s recovery and for lessons to be learned that might prevent future tragedies.

The mind boggles....  I've seen it actually happen here, I've seen in the news here often, I've seen it in numerous places globally...

How anyone rides or drives into a stationary vehicle is beyond me...

...  Phone use, drunk, sleepy etc... all excuses, but on a motorcycle - I just can't fathom how this can actually happen.

I just watched a video of a cyclist in the US riding straight into the back of a vehicle which was undergoing a polices-stop.... the rider had 4 years to see the vehicles up ahead on the shoulder, yet still rode into them at full speed !!!

It really is astonishing...

No, bad talisman

Sad but so "normal".

3:30 AM, 24 year old.

Did we have some shots/LDs too much?

Sidenote: just learned that the Zoomer X is a 110 cm "student bike".

No high powered scooter.

what does power have to do with it?! if you don't pay attention on the road!

Zoomer X maximum speed is 80-85 km/h.
40 is more than enough to crash in such a situation.

No reason to get excited.

I have a 110 myself and know that hitting a power pole at 40 km/h could kill me. Never DUI.

Should have spared the sidenote.

Mandatory driver training, proper testing, and enforcement. All of which will be ignored as they continue the mayhem.

Problem is who is going to do the testing?..... more  individuals like the rider in this accident ? . people who have no clue as to  road sense,  or even common sense, they need to import  a  road safety  professional,  but we all know that Thai's  know best, so it will never happen..... so carry on crashing...and dying

Took two 'cousins' for their test.......both failed......both paid 1500B and walked out with a shiny new licence.

Wife had her first driving lesson on a Monday, picked her driving licence up next day.
