Out in the woods: Too much humidity in our Thailand jungle now?

It is not the sinking that causes the air to become drier.

It is the fact that the cold air at high altitude warms much as it sinks to lower altitude.

The RH of a warming gas will decrease, radically, even though no water is added to the system.

Please keep in mind that the absolute amount of water vapor in the air remains the same in this example, although of course the amount of air under discussion will expand.

If you were to add water vapor from some other source, then this would change the validity of this example.

You didn't mention pressure systems either. Oh well, how sad, never mind.

I use THREE AirCons and will add one dehumidifier to the mix.   My rate of dehumidification will be even higher.   I intend to remove about 13 liters of condensate per hour.

A dehumidifier will add heat.    I use an air conditioner to remove humidity

You are entirely correct, of course, that if you really wish to stay dry...then...   You will need to run a dehumidifier, simultaneously, while running your ACs....   Either that,

Well, of course, sinking air will be compressed and and this compression will cause warming.

This is not a sad thing.

It's just basic physics.

But away from the OP topic. Ta ta.

As the heat increases there are convection currents this moves the air upwards, as the air moves upwards it gets cooler, at a threshold temperature & depending on presence of condensation nuclei (bacteria, sugar alcohols, dust particles, etc.) it will then condense to form rain (phase changes as mentioned by GammaGlobulin).  Hence, the rain in the tropical regions.

The reason is humidity is less in the middle eastern countries is that they get very infrequent rain due to the air already having had most of its water rained out over the tropical (equatorial) regions, this air will have a lot less water vapour then travels & descends at the Tropics of Cancer & Capricorn.  This is why there is less humidity in the Middle East & any countries at similar latitudes, the humidity is lower because it has condensed somewhere else.

All this movement is due to global convection currents forming the various convection cell such as the Hadley cells.  All is driven by the Sun's radiation output and the absorptive capacities of the various greenhouse gases & how their wavelengths (lambda) change when re-emitted after ground absorption.

Also because it is a lot hotter than most places in the world

Ta ta....

I never said I was a meteorologist.

I don't like all those changing variables in an open system.

I prefer the laboratory.

Still, the science is the same.

Humidity has increased recently but not to uncomfortable levels. I have experienced much  worse living in other places,  eg Lagos and Jeddah.
