Before we got married, premarriage checklist, an Air Force chaplain told us our marriage would probably not last much more than a year.  We toast him on our anniversary each year.....52+.  Today I met a guy who's been married to his thai wife for 56 years.  Can anyone beat that?

Met 10 years ago, together 9 and married 3, and it is going to be my final destination, at least as it is now.

 I didn't really give the racist  side of it any thought. I do think though that in reality, it is a bit of an anomaly to stay together with anybody for 50+ years. 

We all change as we age and not always in the best ways, or ways that strengthen a marriage. that applies to both men and women.

The "seven year itch" used to be a  common "theory"  and I read somewhere years ago, from some anthropologist type, that 7 years was the minimum age  for a kid to survive without parents in the jungle or wherever it was that we come from. So  there may just be something in it

50+ years of (faithful) marriage  however must leave one wondering what has been missed out on  again by both parties. and after a certain period of time ones options for change or a fresh start become limited

Together 15, married 8 ..... I needed a thorough test drive to be sure she performed to spec.
