A road crash occurred in Roi Et Province when a pick-up truck collided with a school transport vehicle, injuring eight school children.

The collision took place at around 17:15 on 31 July, on the Roi Et–Maha Sarakham Road, directly opposite Triam Udom Suksa Pattana School in Nong Waeng Subdistrict, Mueang District. The impact caused the songthaew, modified pick-up truck commonly used for student transport, to overturn.

Emergency services, including rescue teams from Asok Pitak Chiwit, the Nong Waeng Subdistrict Administrative Organisation, the Phir-Khamthon Rescue Unit, Roi Et Highway Police Rescue, and Roi Et Hospital, were quickly dispatched to the scene. The incident occurred on a four-lane stretch of road with moderate evening traffic.

Rescuers found eight injured students, most of whom were in visible distress, crying and suffering from shock. The victims sustained a range of injuries, including swelling to the head, abrasions and bruises to their limbs. All were conscious at the scene and received prompt first aid before six of them were taken to Roi Et Hospital for further treatment. Two of the students reportedly declined hospital care.

Police from Mueang Roi Et Police Station are investigating the crash. Officers inspected and documented the scene, taken photographs and gathered statements from witnesses. CCTV footage from the area is currently being reviewed to determine the sequence of events. Both drivers involved have been summoned for formal questioning.

Authorities have confirmed that appropriate legal proceedings will be initiated following the outcome of the investigation.
