snoop1130 Posted 2 hours ago Posted 2 hours ago Picture courtesy of KhaoSod In a dramatic incident today, a 14-year-old girl driving a motorcycle with her two younger siblings collided with a car, leading to a crash that left the motorcycle trapped under the vehicle. The quick action of locals and emergency services in Thanyaburi helped avert further tragedy. The Ruamkatanyu Foundation received an urgent call regarding the accident on Ban Green Garden Home Road in Khlong 11, Bueng Nam Rak subdistrict. Responders swiftly arrived at the scene, revealing a chaotic aftermath. A seven-seater Isuzu MU-7 with Uthai Thani registration was parked near Village Soi 60's entrance. Trapped beneath was a Chachoengsao-registered Honda Wave motorcycle. The local community, along with emergency personnel, worked together to lift the Isuzu, freeing the three young passengers. Preliminary findings indicate the young driver suffered significant injuries. Her five-year-old brother, seated in the middle, and nine-year-old sister on the back, fortunately sustained only minor injuries. Nearby sat a Toyota Vios, registered in Bangkok, with a damaged left rear light – a witness to the collision's violent impact. Jesada, a passing driver, recalled slowing for a speed bump on his way to work when the motorcycle sped past, striking his vehicle. "The motorcycle hit my car’s left rear indicator, spun out, and ended up under another vehicle," Jesada recounted. Acting quickly, he and nearby residents used a jack to lift the car, successfully freeing the trapped children. Another witness, Piyawan, heard the loud crash as she drove out of the village and stopped to assist. "I saw the children trapped and immediately called for emergency services," she said, reflecting on the tense moments as they waited for help. As the children receive medical attention, authorities are investigating the circumstances leading to this harrowing accident. This incident also highlights the ongoing issue of underage driving, prompting discussions about safety and regulation. The local response to this alarming event underscores the importance of community readiness and solidarity in the face of sudden emergencies. While the young driver's road to recovery may be long, the quick actions of witnesses and rescuers undoubtedly prevented a worse outcome. This incident raises important questions about road safety and the responsibilities of supervision, sparking a debate that might bring new changes in policy and community awareness. So sad for the parents, but also so careless of them.... The logic is somewhat dumbfounding... I get the 'peer-pressure' part of kids wanting motorcycles because all their friends have one, but the law is still 15 years old - the police don't care, so the parents don't care... But then they allow the 9 year old and 5 year old siblings on the motorcycle.... They've possibly being riding in the same manner, 3 up, without helmets for the past year or so and passed countless policemen while doing so... and the parents have been completely complicit in any incident that develops. So many tragic incidents, but these are not just tragic 'incidents' - its complete parental and policing negligence.
