Three Schoolgirls Vanish in Chiang Mai Late-Night Escape

Reading between the lines the children were boarding at the school, not at home.

The boarding school has the same responsibility as the parents... In my country even in youth hostels the owners are called mum and dad.... so in fact this is the same... The teacher, surely is taking the roll of mum or dad in a boarding school... I think it doesn't matter as such young kids who ever is responsible for it must not be able to get out and wander on the street

  • This screams for a root cause analysis.   Why do these girls want to run away? Better security? OK.   But is there a problem with how kids are treated at school?

  • Do you not read the report before making comments

  • I am wonder what the parents are doing if these young kids are wandering on the street at 1 am... They should be in bed

Is there no security at the school?

The girls were spotted on the school's security camera; was no one monitoring the camera(s)?

Seriously?

You really think boarding school staff work shifts through the night to monitor CCTV footage?

They probably were (assuming you meant the parents:-)l

Your country seems to be totally irrelevant! Or not??
And do you own a whole country?

Yeah, I wouldn't expect that either. But I would expect that there would be a security guard at the entrance/exit of their dorm. But if he's anything like the ones at my condo, at 1 a.m., there's a good chance that he was resting his eyes....
But also, as others mentioned, I can't help but think that they might not be running away (more than once) for reasons other than homesickness and hope that is investigated.
In the meanwhile, if you know someone needing a night job, they may be taking applications for a security guard position!

Security of some kind for sure............. some method of ensuring they can't just walk out.

they may be taking applications for a security guard position!......Last person on earth they could afford to taken on. Bed by 9pm...average time to fall asleep, 6 minutes......dead to the world for eight hours every night....555

🤷‍♂️ Certainly worth investigating. It might appear so wouldn't it?

This incident wasn’t the first escape attempt by the girls, highlighting an urgent need to reassess dormitory security and supervision protocols.

Would be better to find out why they keep trying to escape and address those issues

Sounds like a thousand percent psyop to me.

Too much numerology going on in this story.

Problem - Reaction - Solution.

'Something must be done to keep boarders from leaving the schoolgrounds'

Something definitely not right especially given the national obsession with ghosts. The girls were willing to brave a cemetery rather than return to school.

Three young Thai girls have disappeared after sneaking out of their school in Chiang Mai. The children, aged seven to nine, were last seen on CCTV wandering the streets with umbrellas in the early hours of 1 a.m., August 3. Police are urging the community to assist in the search.

The missing girls, seven-year-old Natnicha Phewkaew, nine-year-old Jomkwan Siamlai, and nine-year-old Kamonnit Wilai, disappeared from Rajaprajanugroh 30 School in the Mae Ai district. Officers from Mae Ai Police Station have called on residents to offer any information that might help locate the children, who were spotted near Mae Ai Luang Temple, Thairath School, and Mae Ai Fresh Market.

The authorities suspect that the girls might be hiding in one of 15 nearby residential communities, including Ban San Kong, Ban San Phak La, and Ban Pu Chae. Residents are asked to be vigilant and report sightings to the children’s guardians or the police. The guardian contacts are Thipsukhon Phewkaew (091-848-4515), Lek Siamlai (080-120-1680), and Rinthong Kunna (084-226-4984).

The police have also provided a hotline at 053-459-033 for any crucial information. The school has not yet explained how the girls managed to leave the premises unobserved. There are whispers among online communities that homesickness might have driven the girls to attempt a return home, although this remains speculative.

Local authorities have announced the deployment of drones to assist in the search operations. While this decision comes amidst recent tensions and a drone ban following incidents between Thailand and Cambodia, officials assure the public that efforts will be made to locate the children safely.

The incident has caused widespread concern throughout Chiang Mai, as the police and local officials intensify their efforts to bring the girls back to safety. The situation remains tense, with the community anxiously waiting for any sign of the missing trio as the search continues.

As investigations proceed, the focus remains firmly on recovering the girls swiftly and safely. Community collaboration is essential to ensure their safe return, and authorities continue to urge anyone with potentially useful information to come forward immediately.

Were they abused in their dormitory ?

I would like to join the chorus of 'It's the parents; fault' but unfortunately I actually read the article and know better. Abuse in the dormitory though is not out of the question.

Good to read that they were found safe. It is always a worry when children go missing in any country especially when so young.

Thank you! At last someone asking WHY?

Might've just been a one o' those kiddy attempts to run away, or they could be suffering abuse. It needs checking before they're sent back and monitoring afterwards as well.

Abuse was rampant throughout the UK in borstals for young offenders as well as boarding schools in the 50s, 60s and 70s. I wouldn't be surprised if Thailand is still hiding it the way officials including the police did in the UK back then. It took decades for it to come out in the UK. Places like boarding schools and childrens' sports attract some of the worst.

Anyone remember Cyril Smith?

Kids tend not to 'complain' the way adults do. They act - like running away.

And their welfare definitely needs monitoring if they're sent back.

I really hope these girls are found quickly and they come to no harm. Those responsible for their care must be held to account.

They need investigating closely.
