This conflict escalated just after the fall out between dictator Hun Sen and the former Thailand PM Ms Shinawatra. It feels like it's another smokescreen from Hun Sen to remain in power. When will the Cambodians have a real democracy??

Like the rest of the region, NEVER!!!!

Hopefully Thailand will finally adhere to the original 1907 treaty, along with multiple ICOJ rulings, and leave the territory which lawfully belongs to Cambodia.

Bad number?  Maybe 14 points would have been better?

With all the Chinese involvement (allegedly) then 14 isn't a great number either.  Something ending in 4 is the death number.

So the main reason of the age old problems / border dispute remains , waiting for another conflict . I doubt that these 13 points will be upheld in another incident .  Cambodia now realizes that it was a foolish move to take on Thailand . Cambodia will probably look at acquiring modern weaponry to upgrade its tin pot army etc . Now which friends  of Cambodia will be willing to assist in supplying modern warfare items ?

Good old Donnie, perhaps?

They have missed the most important issue.....the 2 super crook families from each side stop calling each other school playground names and keep.the teddy in the pram

Yes. Btw, stop calling each other childish names is something the US should adopt.

The masts on the Thai sub will be extra tall for the sails to catch the wind. 😋

A smokescreen by Hun Sen or Shinawatra?

Why deputy defense? Why not defense minister?

I think Thais try to show they’re above Cambodia and not worthy of top tier representation.

In 1904The same territory was Thailands until the French altered the map. The Thai have a legitimate grievance.

Technically Hun Sen isn’t in power. It’s his son who is the Cambodian head of state. Technically.

But I don’t think this is so that Sen and son can remain in power. Elections were held not that long ago and I’m not aware of their family grip on power being in any danger.

For the Shinawatra side, there are obvious reasons to need a smoke screen, or two.

Whether that’s actually the case 🤷‍♂️

Thailand has followed the two rulings and left the territory the ICJ ruled belonged to Cambodia, which is the Preah Vihear temple and the promontory it stands on. Now, Cambodia is claiming a much larger area, which the ICJ has not ruled belongs to Cambodia.

If only the thai military had a blimp or a Chinese drone they could have seen this coming a mile away!

you must not have read the news articles about the encroaching high tides, once it takes over the city, what better way for people to get around since the trains won't work but the subs can move people around the city to areas above water.  Thinking ahead.   Better than lying on the bottom of an ocean somewhere like so many of the Chinese boats.

A nice video that gives a solid overview of the conflict so far.

Pretty sure subs can rain down death and destruction into mountains and jungles with very little warning and won't have to worry about retaliation.  not  to mention  it can insert, drop off and pick up military units without being detected.. and it can provide surveillance.
