A shocking scandal has erupted in Pattaya as a transgender individual was caught stealing nearly one million baht from a drunk Russian tourist. The theft occurred as the victim, a 54-year-old tourist, fell asleep on a roadside after a night out.

On 7th August, Pattaya police, led by RTA Colonel Kritsada Wansaed, arrested the suspect, aged 43, at a local residence in Bunglamung, Chonburi. The items recovered included a diamond ring, a pawn ticket for a gold necklace, and a vehicle used on the night of the incident.

This dramatic caper unfolded in the early hours of 6th August when the tourist, heavily intoxicated, dozed off near Phra Tamnak Soi 6. Upon waking, he discovered his valuables missing, including a 400,000 baht gold pendant, a 450,000 baht diamond ring, and 5,000 baht in cash.

Police promptly reviewed CCTV footage, revealing a suspect, dressed as a woman, approaching the sleeping tourist. The suspect skilfully struck up a conversation, then stealthily made off with the valuables while the tourist remained unaware, reported Daiy News.

The investigation intensified with a thorough analysis of CCTV recordings tracking the suspect’s escape route, eventually leading to their arrest at a nearby location. The swift action resulted in the recovery of the stolen goods and the successful detention of the culprit.

Authorities have taken the suspect into custody and will proceed with legal action. This case highlights the efficiency of Pattaya’s law enforcement in swiftly resolving crimes to ensure the safety of its tourists.

The incident serves as a reminder for visitors to remain vigilant, as police continue their efforts to maintain order in this famously lively city. Ensuring tourist safety remains a top priority for Pattaya authorities as they work to uphold the city's reputation.

'including a 400,000 baht gold pendant, a 450,000 baht diamond ring'

Thank god he wasn't Indian, I just can't bare it anymore.

Its a famously lively place!

They make it too easy for the beach road jackals. You have to wonder if these daft fools have an internet connection. Don't wear your pricey accessories on a night out of excessive drinking. Especially when you have to walk down beach road to get back. Who hasn't figured this out yet ?

Yeah, that's a first - I reckon it was written by AI.

And I'm not sure what they mean by "uphold the city's reputation".

So it is the victim that is at fault!! Perhaps you are so sad that the thief was caught!

Seems a bit HARSH to me!!

"uphold the city's reputation".What Reputation would that be ??

Dear Lord... whatever happened to the concept of personal responsibility. I say the Russian Tourist should have to pay a good stiff fine for making the police save his stuff.  Maybe a 200,000 baht fine. It wasn't like he was struck from behind, knocked out and robbed.No...he got knee-walkin snot-slingin commode-huggin drunk, then took a nap on the side of the road in an area that has MORE than its fair share of micrewants roaming about.

OK, I am confused about this news story.  According to the story:

"This dramatic caper unfolded in the early hours of 6th August when the tourist, heavily intoxicated, dozed off near Phra Tamnak Soi 6."

Yet the lady boy had:

"... skilfully struck up a conversation, ..."

Who was the ladyboy having a conversation with, if the tourist was sleeping?

Common though. It is perhaps one of the top 3 most notorious places in all of SE Asia for getting robbed and getting in trouble.

He was probably blacked out drunk talking

Ladyboys probably steal a lot after they get older, who would employ them then?

When did he say he was sad the thief got caught? But sure, the victim is not at fault, just very stupid. Stealing things is illegal, so the thief is at fault. The comment you quoted, didn´t reason against that. However, you must agree, that he is stupid! Go out with valuables attached that are worth a million baht, get piss drunk and doze off. That´s like begging to get robbed.

"Perhaps" is the word I used!  Read what I actually wrote.

It's boring to keep reading from many on here that the victim was stupid as if that was something profound and the most important aspect of the incident - which is why I don't need to repeat it!

A proper night out in Pattaya is not cheap anymore, you have to take extra valuables with you, just in case you want to barfine marry a Gogo Girl on the spot and have to buy her  out of the Bar.

Sorry, but you just did.

People do that?   I didn't know that.

The only drunk that I know is my brother in law (American) who gets obnoxious and (I am projecting here) thinks he is making funny comments but is only being stupid when drunk.
