Seven Chinese nationals have been arrested for illegally working as barbers, a profession legally reserved for Thai citizens.

Police from the Tourist Police Bureau, led by Pol. Lt. Gen. Saksira Phueakam, and investigators under Pol. Col. Man Rodthong, traced the group after receiving intelligence that several foreigners were entering Thailand on tourist visas but working illegally.

The suspects were found working at Sleek Salon on Ratchadaphisek Road, Bangkok. Undercover officers confirmed that the Chinese men, were providing haircut services to customers. Police then moved in, recording photographic and video evidence before confronting the men.

None of the seven individuals were able to produce valid work permits. They were subsequently arrested and face charges for working without a permit and violating conditions of their temporary stay in Thailand.

Authorities emphasised their commitment to enforcing labour laws and protecting jobs reserved for Thai nationals.
