A road crash occurred on the afternoon of 14 August, when a panel pickup truck driver, lost control in heavy rain and collided with a sidecar motorcycle selling yoghurt, leaving three people dead at the scene and one critically injured. Authorities believe excessive speed and the possibility of the driver falling asleep may have contributed to the crash.

The incident took place at around 14:00 on the Trang-Huai Yot bypass road, Moo 2, Thung To Subdistrict, Huai Yot District, Trang Province. Lieutenant Arkom Janluen, Deputy Inspector at Huai Yot Police Station, received the report and responded with rescue teams from Trang Kusol Foundation, Sawang Phakdi Trang Rescue, and Pitak Cheep Rescue, along with medical staff and ambulances from Trang Hospital and Huai Yot Hospital.

At the scene, the black panel truck was found smashed against a central reservation tree, with airbags deployed on both sides. Tools and equipment from the truck’s cargo, including ladders and hand tools, were scattered across the road. Two government streetlight poles on the central island were also destroyed in the crash.

Inside the vehicle, three male occupants were found. The driver and front passenger were pronounced dead at the scene, while a male passenger in the rear cab was critically injured but still had a pulse. Rescue teams used cutting equipment to extract him from the wreckage before rushing him to hospital for emergency treatment.

Nearby, a Honda Wave 110 motorbike and its detached sidecar were discovered in a roadside ditch overgrown with vegetation. A vinyl sign advertising a well-known yoghurt brand and scattered bottles were also found. The body of 31-year-old Ms. Patchareeya was discovered at the scene.

Preliminary investigations suggest that the truck was travelling from the Andaman intersection towards Trang city when the driver lost control in the heavy rain, possibly due to speeding or driver fatigue. The truck first collided with the sidecar motorcycle before crashing into a tree, resulting in three fatalities and one critical injury.

Police and relevant authorities are continuing a detailed investigation to determine the exact cause of the incident.
