Security and law enforcement agencies have joined forces to crack down on counterfeit goods, launching a public awareness campaign on Patpong Road in Bangkok’s Silom district.

On 13 August, Lt Gen Chanin Singhanatnithirak, Director of the Internal Security Operations Command’s Coordination Centre 3 (ISOC), led the event alongside the Department of Intellectual Property (DIP), the Department of Special Investigation (DSI), Bang Rak Police Station and Bang Rak District Office officials.

The campaign, supported by both public and private sectors, aimed to raise awareness among business owners, consumers and the public about the dangers and illegality of producing, selling or using counterfeit products. Officials stressed the need to “stop using fake goods to protect yourself and society.”

Participants highlighted the health and safety risks posed by substandard counterfeit products, such as electrical appliances, cosmetics, handbags, perfumes and other imitation goods. They also reminded the public that counterfeiting not only violates the law but harms legitimate brand owners, damages Thailand’s international reputation and could deter foreign investment.

Thailand remains on the Watch List for intellectual property protection and authorities warned that failure to address the issue could affect the country’s economic standing.

ISOC urged the public to refrain from buying or selling counterfeit goods and to report any violations to officials. The coordinated effort, they said, is intended to strengthen Thailand’s image and investor confidence while ensuring fair protection for intellectual property rights.
