Georgealbert Posted 1 hour ago Posted 1 hour ago Picture courtesy of Khaosod, A 20-year-old man was killed instantly when his motorcycle was struck by a pickup truck driven by a 69-year-old woman whose insurance had expired. The accident occurred at around 15.30 on 14 August, on the frontage road alongside Khlong Sam in Khlong Luang district, Pathum Thani. Police, medics from Thammasat University Hospital and Por Teck Tung Foundation rescue workers were dispatched to the scene, where they found the victim lying face down next to his overturned red Honda motorcycle on the footpath by the canal. The rider, from Bangkok’s Sai Kong Din area, died at the scene from his injuries. The other vehicle involved, a white Toyota pickup with Bangkok registration plates, had damage to its front end. The elderly driver, visibly shaken, told police she had been returning home from Thanyaburi and was turning right into her soi when she saw the motorcycle “at the mouth of the lane” and thought she had enough time to make the turn. She claimed she did not notice the motorbike approaching quicker, before the collision sent the rider flying. She also admitted that her vehicle insurance had recently expired. Police have sent the body to Thammasat University Hospital’s forensic unit and are continuing their investigation. Legal proceedings will follow. Adapted by Asean Now from Khaosod 2025-08-15
