The Central Investigation Bureau (CIB), in coordination with the Highway Police Division, has apprehended a 21-year-old woman, identified as Ms. Kulrat, for her involvement in a major cross-border motorcycle theft network in northeastern Thailand.

Ms. Kulrat, who had been evading four outstanding arrest warrants, was arrested at a residence in Nong Hua Chang Subdistrict, Kanthararom District, Si Sa Ket Province. She faces charges of “joint theft by two or more persons at night using a vehicle” and “receiving stolen property.”

Investigations revealed that Ms. Kulrat was one of the ringleaders of a gang targeting motorcycles across multiple provinces, including Ubon Ratchathani, Yasothon, and Si Sa Ket. The stolen vehicles were then trafficked across the border, primarily to Laos. The gang focused on popular motorcycle models with high resale value, such as Honda Wave and Yamaha Fino, selecting them for ease of resale.

Authorities conducted extensive surveillance and tracked Ms. Kulrat until her capture. She has since been handed over to local police for further legal proceedings.

The operation was conducted under the direction of Pol Gen Jiraphop Phuridej, Commissioner of the CIB, Pol Maj Gen Khongkrit Lertsittikul, Chief of the Highway Police Division, and Pol Col Surasak Sittiyai, Superintendent of Division 6, Highway Police.

Officials emphasised that the crackdown reflects ongoing efforts to combat organised cross-border crime and protect communities in the northeastern provinces.

I remember when living in Khon Kaen a similar motorbike theft ring was busted.

When asked how they target the 'desirable' bikes to steal, they said: We just look for bikes with the keys left in them.

How come these master criminals always look as if they don't have a pot to peeeeee in?
