Two people were injured when a ultralight aircraft crashed on a road near an airfield in Pa Khlok Subdistrict, Thalang District, Phuket on the afternoon of 17 August.

Emergency services rushed to the scene shortly before 15:00, after reports that a small plane had gone down on a road in Pa Klok subdistrict, Thalang district, just short of the private airstrip. The crash startled villagers and passing motorists, but no-one or vehicle had been hit on the ground.

Rescue workers found two men inside the wreckage, both suffering injuries. They were given first aid at the roadside before being taken to a nearby hospital. Their conditions were not immediately disclosed, though officials confirmed no fatalities.

Police cordoned off the area and diverted traffic while investigators examined the site. Early indications suggest the aircraft may have suffered a technical fault as it approached the airfield.

The Phuket Information Centre later identified the aircraft as an ultralight Quicksilver MX II Sprint, registration U-M22. The aircraft is currently listed on the Civil Aviation Authority of Thailand (CAAT) Thai Ultralight Register.

The model is widely used for recreational flying and in flight training schools, is powered by a 65-horsepower Rotax 582 engine, with a cruising speed of 80 km/h and a maximum speed of 120 km/h.
