I often wondered that, if they get sent to jail does he still collect his pension? if so he would have a decent life in jail,

An application for Australian Age pension  must be lodged  on Australian soil(other than the case of staying in Agreement Countries).

Worth reading this - I bet most of you are not fully aware as to how much info the Immigration officers have on you. 

Even before you get to the airport they have received a whole slew of info about the passengers on the flight - which includes "how the passenger paid for the ticket" which in the case of drug mules is often a ticket paid for by someone else, which raises a red flag.

its really strange, reading about big busts of foreigners but you almost never hear a follow up story when those things went to court and sentence is spoken. 

 

Almost feels like most of the cases are  swept under the carpet after some time. Slap on the wrist, pay up and bai bai.

is it really like that ? no ,right? especially when you are white skin color and have big money?

I find it quite funny that a lot of people assume he's just done it the once or only just started drug smuggling. I expect he's been doing it a long time.  People don't get into smuggling in their 60s. For some people drug smuggling is a job just like any other but obviously the risks are very, very high.

Not just X-Rays, but sniffer dogs trained in detecting many forms of contraband run past sniffing at every bag before loading onto the plane and later before coming on the luggage carousel at the destination airport.
