Perimenopause- Should see a doctor?

Featured Replies

My wife is 45 and is showing the signs of perimenopause. Should i encourage her to see a doctor?

A dr is a good start, but normal dr do very little about it, so an anti age clinic can do more if you find the right clinic and dr. Worth looking in to

As above. Thai doctors are not well informed about this and particularly not well informed about bioidentical HRT.  (Synthetics may actuslly make matters worse). Certain anti-aging clinics are the best of the lot, but expensive.

How severe are her symptoms? Do they vary with menstrual cycle? (PMDD, which oftens worsens at perimenopsysee, is sometimes confused with symptoms if perimenopause/menopause itself. Hall mark of PMDD us that symptoms sre absent in the 2 weeks immediately after menstruation).

1 week to 10 days before menstraution she is very unpleasant to be around, but no phsical symtoms or pain.  After menstruation, she is back to normal. Also, pain during intercourse, due to dryness.

To visit a trusted gynocologist is essential.

All other long distance "diagnosis" is highly questionable.

Only a qualified specialized doctor will give advise and probably start with a hormone status and a questionnaire.

Are you giving a diagnosis? Even as a doctor - which you aren't - it's risky to give long distance advice.

GF went through this and we are still using creams more and more.  As has been stated it might be a good idea to bring her to Bangkok and see a real gynecologist in one of the major hospitals.

As has been stated, though, go to one of the pharmacies outside to get the creams.

Just me, but encourage my wife to take drugs to improve her mood would not be my go to move.

And yes, I've been through it in my house.  Fortunately, my SO is pretty self aware -- she didn't like being in the grip of uncontrollable moods either -- and would just issue a steer clear alert when necessary.  Like I say, we got through it.
