In a breakthrough for a long-dormant case, Central Investigation Bureau (CIB) officers have apprehended a 30-year-old man who had been evading capture for over a decade for the sexual assault of a 14-year-old girl.

The suspect, Mr. Kittisak, was arrested on August 20, at a workers' shelter in Ban Mai sub-district, Bang Yai district, Nonthaburi province.

The arrest warrant was originally issued by the Juvenile and Family Court of Phichit province on November 17, 2015. The charges allege that the suspect, "without reasonable cause, abducted a child under the age of 15 from her parents or guardian for indecent purposes and committed a sexual assault upon a child under 15, regardless of consent."

The victim, a 14-year-old girl referred to as 'A' to protect her identity, was contacted by the suspect. He arranged to meet her and used a motorcycle to pick her up from a designated location before taking her away and committing the acts in question.

Following the incident, the victim and her guardians filed a complaint with the police, which led to the court issuing the arrest warrant. Despite extensive efforts, the suspect managed to evade authorities for years.

The CIB's Operation Division, however, continued its investigation. Acting on a recent tip-off that placed the suspect at the shelter in Nonthaburi, officers planned and executed a successful raid on the property.

Upon his arrest, the suspect was taken into custody. Police reported that during initial questioning, he confessed to all charges. He has been handed over to investigative officers to face legal proceedings.
