In the Dobropillia direction, Ukrainian forces have achieved successes and have surrounded part of the enemy’s units, according to the Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, Oleksandr Syrskyi.

According to Syrskyi, the total losses of the occupiers in this direction amount to 3,185 persons, of which 1,769 are irretrievable. The invaders also lost 969 pieces of weapons and military equipment. The area of liberated territory since the beginning of the counteroffensive operation has reached about 175 sq. km, with almost another 195 sq. km cleared of sabotage groups.

"Taking into account the reports of commanders on the ground, I defined tasks and gave the necessary instructions to increase the effectiveness of fire damage to the enemy, in particular at long distances; neutralize enemy sabotage groups in designated areas; improve the quality of interaction between units," the Commander-in-Chief noted.

Satellite images have emerged showing Russian aviation losses from drone strikes carried out by the Defense Intelligence of the Ministry of Defense of Ukraine (HUR), according to military analyst AviVector.

The photos show airfields in temporarily occupied Kacha and near Sevastopol, where an An-26 transport plane was destroyed and Be-12 amphibious aircraft were damaged.

The analyst noted that over the past week, HUR reported destroying two Be-12 planes, two An-26 planes, and four Mi-8 helicopters in Crimea. Photo analysis confirmed the complete destruction of one An-26 (RF-46878). The second An-26 could not be identified.

MOSCOW (Reuters) -The Kremlin said on Monday that Russia's military specialists were monitoring the possible supply of U.S. long-range Tomahawk missiles to Ukraine but they would not change the situation on the battlefield.

Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov said it was important to understand whether the United States or Ukraine would provide the targeting data for such missiles to be fired.

Russia asks: if Ukraine gets Tomahawk missiles, will US provide the target data?

Russia's president Vladimir has issued a huge decree as Moscow continues its grinding war in Ukraine. Another 135,000 people have now been drafted into the army in order to serve as tensions continue to rise between Russia and the West.

Pro-Kremlin media is reporting that more soldiers are being brought in from the population to fight its bloody war in Ukraine. This comes as Moscow continues to pay for more North Korean soldiers to head to the frontline, all in the hopes of winning the three-year-long conflict.

Meanwhile, NATO is stepping up its own defences after a series of Russian incursions into its territory over the past couple of weeks. Putin and his cronies have strongly denied any involvement in the incursions, instead blaming the West for creating a false flag to start a potential Third World War.

Whichever works better.

Russia -- you're not in a position to complain about such things.

You want it all to stop? Then LEAVE UKRAINE.

Very good explanation of russias economic strategy prior to the war, during and where it is at right now

US General reveals how Putin will be stopped: 3 actions could force the end

Petraeus outlines a three‑part strategy: build drone capacity, push security guarantees, and enforce tougher sanctions. The plan hinges on Kyiv being able to project force deep into Russian-held territory via sea and air drones. Without Western support, the approach would be much harder to realise.

Alongside naval drones, Petraeus highlighted the use of ground‑launched cruise missiles like the Flamingo, which have a range of 3,000 km. These systems let Ukraine hit far inside Russian territory, making key infrastructure like refineries vulnerable.

He argues that frozen Russian assets held by the EU — estimated at £200 billion — should be invested in Ukraine’s drone industry. That funding could scale up drone manufacturing and tilt the aerial‑naval balance further in Ukraine’s favor.

For Petraeus, drone warfare alone won’t suffice. He insists that security guarantees and stronger sanctions must be implemented in tandem.

“If these three sets of actions are taken simultaneously … Russia would simply be forced to stop fighting,” he said at the Concordia Summit.

The delay and slow progress of Russia’s military campaign have prompted inside critiques of the war effort’s direction and effectiveness.

Russian military bloggers and state propagandists, once firmly aligned, are growing vocal about failures. Propagandists such as Tatyana Montyan have begun warning that the Russian army lacks the men necessary for forward operations.

She argues the state must prepare for negotiations.

Her change in tone signals a possible turning point in public support.

Dmitry Rogozin, installed by Russia in occupied Zaporizhzhia, recently acknowledged that the frontline is stalemated. He admitted that Russia can no longer take “significant territory.” That kind of admission from an official is rare and revealing.

On the talk show Mesto Vstrechi, a guest challenged the logic behind Russia’s published loss estimates. The host, Andrei Norkin, was pressed:

“So you believe the Russian Ministry of Defence lies?”

This is unprecedented in pro‑state media.

Princess Anne makes surprise Ukraine visit

Anne's secret visit, which was not publicised beforehand for security reasons, came just two days after a Russian aerial bombardment killed at least four people in Kyiv, including a 12-year-old girl, and injured at least 70 others.

The purpose of her trip was to highlight the traumatic experiences of children living on the frontline, Buckingham Palace said. The site commemorates more than 650 children who have died since the start of the conflict in 2022.

In Kyiv, she also met female police and armed forces representatives and heard about their key role protecting women and children.

Princess Anne has placed a toy bear as a poignant tribute at a children's memorial in Ukraine, during an unexpected visit to the war-ravaged country where she also met Volodymyr Zelenskyy.

On one hand I would like to see the west (especially the USA) provide more assistance towin on the battlefield against Russia.  I see Russia as an enemy of the world so long as Putin is their leader.

On the other hand this is unlike past wars using proxies.  In this case it is direct confrontation of Russian troops on Russia's border and the do still have nukes.

I don't know what the answer is but appeasing Putin isn't it.  And I'm not sure what is the point of Tomahawk missiles.  Yes they will reach into Russia.  But there won't be enough to really change their ability to make weapons or change the conflict in Ukraine.

Sure wish the people of Russia would figure out how to remove Putin and elect a rational government.

The Sukholdolnaya oil pumping station in Russia’s Rostov region halted operations after a drone attack on the night of October 1, according to Russian Telegram channels.

It is known that at least 10 drones fell on the territory of the oil pumping station, located in the Verkhnedonskoy district. The attack caused a fire on the roof of the pump units building and a transformer.

Employees of the Sukholdolnaya station were evacuated, and no injuries were reported.

NASA satellites also detected fire signatures at the Sukholdolnaya oil pumping station.

In reference to kwonitoy's post above:

Ukrainian drones have dealt a historic blow to Russia's oil industry, paralyzing 38% of oil refineries and creating an unprecedented crisis in the fuel market, according to Russian media.

According to data from the Siala agency, cited by the Russian agency RBC, at the end of September, almost 38% of the country's primary oil refining capacity was idle, which is about 338,000 tons per day.

For comparison, in August, the available volume of gasoline and diesel fuel production decreased by 6%, and in September, by another 18%.  This was an unprecedented figure for Russian oil refining. Previous downtime records — in August 2023 (23%, 206,000 tons per day) and May 2022 and 2020 — were lower.

Representatives of the EU and Ukraine are already discussing the next package of sanctions against Russia—the 20th—as they understand that the previous restrictions will not be enough, according to Vladislav Vlasiuk, the Ukrainian President's representative on sanctions policy.

The new restrictions include a complete ban on Russian gas imports to European countries until January 1, 2027.

Since the pro-Russian leaders of Hungary and Slovakia will try to block new restrictions against the Kremlin, the European Commission has proposed a new voting scheme.

This involves voting on sanctions against Russia by a simple majority of EU member states.

Ukraine intercepted only 6% of the ballistic missiles launched by Russia in September, and key Ukrainian military facilities have already been destroyed, the British newspaper Financial Times reports, citing its own analysis of open-source Ukrainian Air Force data collected by the London-based Center for Information Resilience (CIR). According to current and former Ukrainian officials, at least four drone manufacturing facilities were destroyed this summer.
