Zelensky has offered Russian soldiers the chance not do die.  If those Russians who are surrounded in Kupyansk, Pokrovsk, and Volchansk just lay down their weapons, they will be humanely treated as POWs and given food and water as they wait out the end of the war and Ukraine's military victory!

Trumps 28 point "Peace Plan" to 'end the war.'  I expect it will be a cold day in Hell Kiev before anyone signs this. There are no war profits in peace.

1. Ukraine’s sovereignty will be confirmed.

2. A comprehensive and comprehensive [sic] non-aggression agreement will be concluded between Russia, Ukraine and Europe. All ambiguities of the last 30 years will be considered settled.

3. It is expected that Russia will not invade neighbouring countries and NATO will not expand further.

4. A dialogue will be held between Russia and NATO, mediated by the United States, to resolve all security issues and create conditions for de-escalation in order to ensure global security and increase opportunities for cooperation and future economic development.

5. Ukraine will receive reliable security guarantees.

6. The size of the Ukrainian Armed Forces will be limited to 600,000 personnel.

7. Ukraine agrees to enshrine in its constitution that it will not join NATO, and NATO agrees to include in its statutes a provision that Ukraine will not be admitted in the future.

8. NATO agrees not to station troops in Ukraine.

9. European fighter jets will be stationed in Poland.

10. US guarantee:

* The US will receive compensation for the guarantee.

* If Ukraine invades Russia, it will lose the guarantee.

* If Russia invades Ukraine, in addition to a decisive coordinated military response, all global sanctions will be reinstated, recognition of the new territory and all other benefits of this deal will be revoked.

* If Ukraine launches a missile at Moscow or St. Petersburg without cause, the security guarantee will be deemed invalid.

11. Ukraine is eligible for EU membership and will receive short-term preferential access to the European market while this issue is being considered.

12. A powerful global package of measures to rebuild Ukraine, including but not limited to:

a. The creation of a Ukraine Development Fund to invest in fast-growing industries, including technology, data centres, and artificial intelligence.

c. Joint efforts to rehabilitate war-affected areas for the restoration, reconstruction and modernisation of cities and residential areas.

d. Infrastructure development.

e. Extraction of minerals and natural resources.

a. The lifting of sanctions will be discussed and agreed upon in stages and on a case-by-case basis.

The United States will enter into a long-term economic cooperation agreement for mutual development in the areas of energy, natural resources, infrastructure, artificial intelligence, data centres, rare earth metal extraction projects in the Arctic, and other mutually beneficial corporate opportunities.

c. Russia will be invited to rejoin the G8.

14. Frozen funds will be used as follows: $100 billion in frozen Russian assets will be invested in US-led efforts to rebuild and invest in Ukraine. The US will receive 50% of the profits from this venture. Europe will add $100 billion to increase the amount of investment available for Ukraine’s reconstruction. The remainder of the frozen Russian funds will be invested in a separate US-Russian investment vehicle that will implement joint projects in specific areas. This fund will be aimed at strengthening relations and increasing common interests to create a strong incentive not to return to conflict.

16. Russia will enshrine in law its policy of non-aggression towards Europe and Ukraine.

17. The United States and Russia will agree to extend the validity of treaties on the non-proliferation and control of nuclear weapons, including the START I Treaty.

24. A humanitarian committee will be established to resolve outstanding issues:

a. All remaining prisoners and bodies will be exchanged on an ‘all for all’ basis.

In response:

Statement by Ukraine's Deputy Permanent Representative to the UN, Kristina Hayovyshyn:

▪️Ukraine has officially received a draft plan from the USA. We have outlined fundamental principles important to our people. We agree to work on the provisions of the plan in a way that ensures a fair end to the war.
▪️In this context, allow me to make a few key remarks.
▪️First, Ukraine is ready for substantive negotiations to end this war — including at the leadership level — but our red lines are clear and unchangeable.
▪️There will never be recognition, formal or otherwise, of Ukrainian territory temporarily occupied by the Russian Federation as Russian. Our land is not for sale.
▪️Ukraine will not accept any restrictions on its right to self-defense or on the size and capabilities of its Armed Forces.
▪️We will also not tolerate any encroachments on our sovereignty, including our sovereign right to choose the alliances we want to join.
▪️Any genuine peace process must respect the fundamental principle: nothing about Ukraine without Ukraine, and nothing about Europe without Europe.

And I doubt Russia or the EU are going to accept this:
14. Frozen Russian assets will be allocated as follows:
– $100B used to rebuild Ukraine (run by the U.S.)
– The U.S. receives 50% of profits from reconstruction investments
– Europe contributes another $100B
– Remaining frozen assets go into a U.S.–Russia joint investment vehicle to deepen economic ties

Like it did with the Budapest Memorandum :

The memoranda, signed in Patria Hall at the Budapest Congress Center [de; hu] with U.S. Ambassador Donald M. Blinken amongst others in attendance,[3] prohibited Russia, the United States, and the United Kingdom from threatening or using military force or economic coercion against Ukraine, Belarus, and Kazakhstan, "except in self-defence or otherwise in accordance with the Charter of the United Nations"

Russia violated the Budapest memorandum in 2014 with its annexation of Ukraine's Crimea[7][8] and in 2022 by invading Ukraine. As a response, the United States, United Kingdom, and France provided Ukraine with financial and military assistance, and imposed economic sanctions on Russia, while ruling out "any direct interventions to avoid a direct confrontation with Russia"

I started this thread with an explanation that I was not (and am still not) predicting which side would ultimately prevail (or that it might end with a both sides being very unhappy).

All I meant to communicate was at that time in my opinion the MOMENTUM was on Ukraine's side.

I stand by that opinion at that time.

However, that never meant that the momentum or indeed the final outcome was necessarily destined to remain on Ukraine's side.

My current opinion is that Ukraine has for now lost the momentum.

Why?

Trump has proven again again he will always slip back to being Putin's poodle.

Trump like his stooge Witkoff is totally ignorant about the history of the conflict.

He never cared about peace, always hated Zelinskyy, always loved Putin as he wants to be like Putin.

He does care about dramatic announcements, vapid claims of winning, and getting prizes. To decent Americans, a total disgrace, but tragically he remains in power.

The corruption scandal surrounding Zelinskyy now represents a very serious problem for Ukraine, domestically and abroad.

Obviously, it was way way too close to Zelinskyy for people to believe that even if he didn't directly profit, that he didn't know about it. How could he have not known?

So the people of Ukraine already stressed to the bone by years of Z fascist Russian terrorism are justifiably pissed off, and while still opposing Russia, are obviously much more divided on their own leadership.

Enemies abroad (including Trump and Witkoff in my estimation) are circling like vultures.

More luckwarm friends now have a new excuse to back off from helping Ukraine,

Can Zelinskyy manage to remain a legit leader and effectively address this crisis?

Well the man has remarkable political skills but he's not a magician. Maybe he can, but I can't imagine how.

So if he can't, there needs to be some kind of leadership transition in Ukraine.

In a time of war that obviously weakens Ukraine.

It's also represents a long sought after opportunity for Putin to try to install a puppet.

So even though Ukraine continues to be amazing as far as attacks on Russia's energy infrastructure, for the time being, it looks to me that the momentum has shifted to Russia.

Ukraine officially rejected the "peace plan" in an address to the UN.

Bottom line (or Red Lines):
Ukraine: "We're not giving up an inch of Ukraine."
Russia: "We're not giving up an inch of what is now Russian territory."

Let The Games Begin - Are you not entertained?

So Russia will continue to grind its way slowly Eastward toward the Dnieper River, swallowing the Ukrainian dead and wounded, villages and cities, as Western media continues to insist that "Russia is losing the war."
The SMO ends with the surrender of Ukraine unfortunately, and the loss of even more Ukrainian territory.  None of those demanding that Ukraine fight to the last Ukrainian will ever get anywhere near the front with a rifle and kit - nor will any of their own children.

That's a very one side view of the war.

No mention of the massive meat grinder price Russia is paying (not that Putin cares) for every slow inch of land gained.

No mention of the incredible success Ukraine has had with military tech and destroying Russia's energy infrastructure.

If the Ukrainians want to surrender, that's their choice.

It's not up to Trump or Putin and certainly not that Witkoff clown.

If they don't agree to a deal soon, they will be land-locked.

This is a US Deep state war. The Don wants out. But, he has to make out it's good for the US, and a win with personal glory for him. After all, if he is gonna go down as the greatest POTUS of all time, there needs to be peace deal.

It's a generational war that has been going on for quite literally centuries.  Europeans, and the descendants of Europeans, are war-mongering tribes who have a history of visceral hatred toward Russians.  Europe keeps marching East to conquer Russia and Europeans keep getting their whipped backsides handed to them and Russian ends up in Berlin.  If the non-stop NATO rhetoric and the age-old desired to conquer Russian and put Russian Slavs and Cossacks under their collective heel doesn't end soon, Europe will get what they keep warning Europeans about, and Russian will be in Berlin - again. Not in a land-grab, but to permanently put a buffer zone between Europe aggressor nations and Mother Russia.  Once more NATO countries - are AGAIN - on Russia's Western border. And once more they want to fight to the finish.  Have at it.

 "We're protecting Europe from Russia aggression."
 Europe and Europeans are quintessential war-mongering, belligerent aggressor nations with centuries of war-mongering history and mountains of dead bodies to prove it.

- doing stupid things and then complain he have to face consequences

- there's no amount of alcohol that alcoholic considers as "enough"

- disurbed perception of reality

- his erratic behaviour affects others around

- usually low moral fiber

- even if he throw up (corruption scandal) he's ready to drink another shot immediately (Volodymyr "gimme more money" Zelensky)

When we talk about contemporary great-power behavior, we should remember that none of this occurs in a vacuum. By historical standards, Russia’s actions may look restrained only when measured against a very low and often brutal baseline that major powers have set for centuries. The British Empire once pushed opium into China, fought wars, and seized territory in the name of commerce. The United States’ interventions in Vietnam, Cambodia, and Laos left several million dead commonly estimated between two and three and a half million.

And yet today, many people pass through places like Thailand and admire the infrastructure and stability without fully appreciating that it exists in a region built on the rubble of those conflicts, with the scars still visible just beneath the surface. Who's rules ? Who's Great Game ?  and whaddabout Gaz ?. Let him who is without sin cast the first stone.

https://kyivindependent.com/one-of-the-most-difficult-moments-zelensky-addresses-ukraine-amid-controversial-us-peace-plan/

President Volodymyr Zelensky officially addressed the Ukrainian public on Nov. 21, responding to growing concerns over a new peace proposal that reportedly reflects Russia's longstanding demands.

In his message, Zelensky acknowledged the growing diplomatic pressure on Ukraine, calling the current moment "one of the most difficult" for the country. Without naming the U.S. proposal directly, he described the situation as "complicated" and noted the risk of damaging key strategic relationships.

"Ukraine may soon face an extremely difficult choice. Either the loss of dignity or the risk of losing a key partner. Either 28 complicated points or the hardest winter yet — and the risks that follow," Zelensky said on Telegram.

One thinks of Norman Mailer in “The Naked and the Dead”: “they died for hills no one could have named, for objectives no one understood.” Or of Erich Maria Remarque’s “All Quiet on the Western Front”: “The same torn-up earth we take, lose, take again—the mud stays, the dead stay.”

It calls to mind the horrifying line by Yugoslav novelist Ivo Andrić that we all had in mind 30 years ago during the siege of Sarajevo: “The great powers never give enough to save, but always enough to prolong the agony.” In today’s Ukraine, as in yesterday’s Bosnia, the devil of history has carefully measured its help—enough to allow the country to hold on, but not to win. It’s the scandal of our time.

Ukraine is using music to disrupt Russian aeroballistic Kinzhal missiles, which Russia calls "invincible." A special unit jams the missiles’ satellite signals by replacing them with a well-known Ukrainian song, The Telegraph reports.

A Ukrainian special combat unit called the Nichna varta (Night watch) claims to have shot down 19 Russian Kinzhal missiles in just two weeks. To counter the missiles, the unit uses rerouting commands as well as the Our father Bandera song, which mocks Russian propaganda narratives.

Kinzhal missiles cost several million dollars each, carry 480 kilograms of explosives, and travel at speeds exceeding 6,400 kilometers per hour. However, they rely on Russia’s GLONASS navigation system. The missile uses a Controlled Radiation Pattern Antenna (CRPA), an older type of technology designed to resist jamming.

I'm sure.  Of course. 100% effective. Ukraine makes Kinzhal missiles break apart in mid-air by playing, the "Our Father Bandera" song.
Our father is Bandera1,

Ukraine is our mother,

We will fight for Ukraine, we will fight for her!

No doubt Israel wills stop Iranian hypersonic missiles by playing Hava Nagila on PA speakers mounted on THAAD launcher as they borrow "highly effective Ukrainian built missile interceptor technology.

Oh - and why should Ukraine accept the Trump Peace Plan.  Ukraine is winning!  Of course. What country ever surrendered when they are winning while knocking down Russia hypersonic missiles with the Our Father Bandera song!

1. In the interwar period, under Polish rule in western Ukraine, Bandera organized and participated in acts of political violence. He was convicted in 1934 for orchestrating the assassination of Polish Interior Minister Bronisław Pieracki and sentenced to death (later commuted to life imprisonment). Released in 1939 following the German invasion of Poland, Bandera led a split in the OUN in 1940, forming the more militant OUN-B, which advocated authoritarian nationalism and rejected compromise with occupying powers.

During World War II, the OUN-B initially collaborated tactically with Nazi Germany, viewing the 1941 invasion of the Soviet Union as an opportunity to establish an independent Ukraine. On 30 June 1941, OUN-B representatives, acting on Bandera's instructions, proclaimed a Ukrainian state in Lviv. Nazi authorities rejected this, arresting Bandera in July 1941 and detaining him in Sachsenhausen concentration camp until September 1944. While imprisoned, he maintained influence over OUN-B operations.

The OUN-B's military arm, the Ukrainian Insurgent Army (UPA), formed in 1942, fought against Soviet forces, Poles, and later Germans. UPA units were responsible for ethnic violence, including participation in the Holocaust (through auxiliary police roles in 1941) and the massacres of approximately 70,000–100,000 Polish civilians in Volhynia and Eastern Galicia in 1943–1945, often described as ethnic cleansing.
