Police have arrested seven people from Uttaradit province in connection with an online gambling operation, reportedly generating over 200 million baht a year, officials announced on 30 August.

The operation, known as “HUAYFHA” (huayfah.com), was uncovered after an investigation by the Technology Crime Suppression Division 2 (TCSD2). Initial findings indicate the website had been active since January 2024, with more than 3,000 registered members. Monthly cash flows through the operation were estimated at around 20 million baht, totaling more than 200 million baht annually.

Police executed search warrants at locations in Bangkok and Uttaradit, seizing computers, bank books, mobile phones, a safe and cash exceeding 50,000 baht. Total assets confiscated are estimated to be worth over one million baht.

The suspects, aged between 19 and 35, were all residents of Mueang and Laplae districts in Uttaradit. Roles within the operation included website administration, “money mule” accounts and cash withdrawal and delivery to beneficiaries. Investigators also revealed that a male boss directed cash withdrawals via Telegram, instructing the mules to use multiple ATMs late at night before delivering amounts of 100,000–500,000 baht to a contact at a shopping centre in Ratchada, Bangkok. Reports suggest the group had previously delivered between one and two million baht per month.

Police have filed charges including organising online gambling without a licence and money laundering in conspiracy. All seven suspects have admitted the allegations. Authorities continue to pursue additional accomplices and investigate financial trails to seize assets obtained through illegal activity.
