A fatal crash occurred in the morning of 31 August, on the elevated Viphavadi Tollway, Bangkok, when a pickup truck driver lost control, causing one passenger to fall to the road below and die. Five others were injured in the crash.

The incident took place at approximately 10:30 hrs on the outbound lane above the Thai PBS station. Police reports indicate that the Toyota Hilux Vigo suffered a suspected tyre blowout, causing it to collide with the roadside barrier. The victim, identified as Mr Thike Mon, 30, a migrant worker from Myanmar was thrown from the vehicle and over the barrier. He sustained severe head trauma and a compound fracture to his left leg.

The truck, transporting mackerel to Simum Mueang market from a factory in Tha Kham, Rama 2 Road, was carrying five other workers at the time of the crash. Baskets of mackerel were scattered across the roadway following the impact.

The vehicle sustained major damage, including a collapsed right rear corner, broken rear axle and detached wheels. The driver and other injured passengers were taken to a nearby hospital for treatment.
