Police in Bangkok are investigating after the body of an unidentified man was discovered bound and weighted in the Saen Saep canal in Min Buri district.

The grim find was reported on the afternoon of 8 September, near the Min Buri market bridge, close to the Office of the Attorney General. Officers from Min Buri police station, forensic investigators and doctors from the Police General Hospital were dispatched to the scene.

The victim, believed to be aged between 35 and 40, was found floating face down in the water. His body was bloated and partially decomposed, suggesting he had been dead for two to three days. He was wearing a long-sleeved navy blue T-shirt with the words “4G” on the chest and blue jeans. No identification documents were recovered.

Investigators said the man’s body had been tied with both white and green nylon ropes. His arms were bound to his torso, his ankles fastened together and his left wrist attached to part of a concrete road barrier, which had been used as a weight to keep the body submerged.

A local fish vendor, 47-year-old Chanthira, told police that one of her workers who had gone fishing spotted the body and raised the alarm. Residents said the area is often frequented by vagrants, but no one recognised the deceased. The canal bank where the body was found has no lighting.

Police Colonel Somphot Thongmun, superintendent of Min Buri police station, said initial examination showed no visible injuries. He noted the manner in which the ropes were tied could suggest a possible suicide, though murder had not been ruled out. “The body has been sent for autopsy to check for water in the lungs and any signs of assault,” he said.

Officers are now reviewing CCTV footage from around the site in an effort to determine how the man entered the canal. His identity remains unknown.

The RTP' are not ruling out suicide and it will no doubt be their only lead until someone confesses🤔
