I had been with Proton for some years but was unable to get a payment through for renewal.

Proton is very good but it's quite expensive.

So I had to find an alternative (mostly for torrenting, sometimes for geo-spoofing).

Did some basic research and Surfshark even with it's silly name tended to be highly rated.

On top of that it's an incredible deal.

So I went with the two year basic plan plus three months free for under 60 dollars total.

It is less of a nerdy experience than Proton as expected  but it's working quite well.

There is not much need for torrenting  geo spoofing

yes it works   but in most cases you could just torrent the download without a spoofed IP

 

Bank /government accounts may require an in country IP (geo spoofing) via a VPN so could be useful.
