Neurologist recommendation in Bangkok

Featured Replies

Hi everyone,

I’m dealing with ongoing nervous system issues and would really appreciate advice on finding the right specialist in Bangkok. My main challenges are:

  • Nervous system hypersensitivity (easily overstimulated by medications, environment, stress etc.)

  • Severe chronic insomnia

  • History of drug abuse (5 years sober) with lingering nervous system instability

Because of this, I’m looking for a neurologist who has experience with:

  • Sleep neurology OR neuropsychiatry (overlap between brain and mental health)

  • Post-acute withdrawal syndrome

  • A doctor open to discussing medication options and long-term management

  • Can integrate brain chemistry, mood, and nervous system regulation

I have tried discussing this with a regular psychiatrist and he didn't understand my condition properly. I think a neurologist would be much better suited to help me in this case.

If anyone can recommend a neurologist in Bangkok who fits this profile, I’d be very grateful.

Thanks in advance!

There  are no neurologists in Thailand with specialization such as you describe, as far as I know. There are a few specialists in neuropsychiatry but their focus is on dementia.

For that matter, psychiatrists with training in neuropsychiatry here are also mostly focused on dementia and geriatrics. One exception is this doctor,  you might try him.

Thanks for the quick reply @Sheryl

Do you know of any psychiatrists that might be able to help with my condition? Not necessarily with a background in neurology but just generally specialized in treating long-term nervous system damage from drug abuse.

I already listed one above.

Another possibility, andvperhaps the best if issues are outcome of drug abuse,  is this very good specialist in addiction psychiatry:

This facility may prove helpful, or they may be able to recommend a psychological assessment centre.

You could also contact an addiction centre for advice.

These are not recommendations; however, I hope they may either be able to assist you directly or refer you to a suitable physician
