Taking a Thai girlfriend to the UK for a short visit.

Featured Replies

I'm considering taking my Thai girlfriend to the UK for a short (less than 1 month) visit.

She will need to obtain a Thai passport as she hasn't held one for years. Also, I believe that she will need a UK visa even though it will only be a short visit.

Are there any other obstacles/issues that I need to consider?

TIA

Just remember the basis on which any such application is based, and also ensure she has a good reason to return - job/responsibilities etc. ensure all your financial and accomadation requirements are met.

Go and have a look at the UK Government visitor visa site, she'll have to have biometrics done in Bangkok or Chiangmai by VFS

Plenty of threads on the topic, search on google for Aseannow uk visa or uk visit.

here is one to start off with.

Her house book will need translating, 6 months bank statements in English, I submitted 6 months UK bank statements, I still had a house there, copy of my passport and a letter saying I'd cover all her expenses, they tell you not to submit photos of you both together, and also not to book a flight. Also a letter from her employer, and property deeds etc. We were successful 3 times, never refused. By the way my home address was on the bank statements, never questioned if I actually owned the property.
