Blair to Lead US-Backed Plan for Postwar Gaza Governance

Former UK Prime Minister Tony Blair has been tasked by US President Donald Trump to lead international efforts to implement a postwar governance plan for the Gaza Strip, four sources told The Times of Israel. Blair’s initiative, initially crafted in the early months of the conflict between Israel and Hamas, has evolved into a strategy aimed at ending the war and facilitating a permanent ceasefire and hostage release, according to US officials and other sources.

The proposal centers on creating a temporary governing body, the Gaza International Transitional Authority (GITA), which would administer Gaza until control can be transferred to the Palestinian Authority. Blair’s plan has been developed with input from regional and international stakeholders, and the Trump administration views securing consensus around the replacement of Hamas as critical to long-term stability.

Contrary to prior speculation linking Blair to schemes for displacing Gaza’s population or constructing a “Trump Riviera,” the proposal explicitly rejects forced population transfers. A source involved in discussions emphasized, “Gaza is for Gazans.” In line with this, the draft plan includes the creation of a “Property Rights Preservation Unit” to ensure that any voluntary departures do not compromise residents’ property ownership or right of return.

Blair’s involvement in postwar Gaza planning was first publicly noted in August, when he participated in a White House policy session, though details of his blueprint have not previously been released. The current draft obtained by The Times of Israel outlines a structured approach for stabilizing Gaza, preserving residents’ rights, and enabling the eventual restoration of Palestinian Authority governance.

While the plan is still in its early stages, it marks a shift in US-led efforts from reactive wartime measures to proactive postwar governance solutions, reflecting the administration’s focus on achieving both immediate conflict resolution and longer-term political stability in Gaza.

Key Takeaways:

  1. Tony Blair tasked by Trump to coordinate postwar Gaza plan.

  2. Proposal envisions Gaza International Transitional Authority (GITA).

  3. Goal: replace Hamas with temporary governance until PA returns.

  4. Plan explicitly rejects population displacement; Gaza remains for Gazans.

  5. Includes Property Rights Preservation Unit to protect residents’ assets.

  6. Aims to secure ceasefire, hostages’ release, and long-term stability.

  7. Draft plan emphasizes structured, rights-focused postwar transition.

A major part of the problem here is well-described in Buddhism. A fundamental cause of suffering is attachment to things, whether house and land, wealth, or cultural identity, and so on.

I've heard comments on the media, from many Palestinians, who say they would rather die than leave their property. I find it difficult to understand a state of mind which considers attachment to a particular property and its cultural associations, more important than life itself.

If the state, or country, of Palestine is restored in the same location, the inhabitants will likely maintain their hatred of the Jews, and even if Hamas is not allowed to resume power, that hatred will likely result in future terrorist attacks on Israel, especially when young palestinians who survived the war, become adults with a strong memory of the horror of the war and the loss of friends and family.

A better solution would be to arrange an agreement with surrounding Moslem countries to accept the immigration of all surviving Palestinians, including inhabitants of the West Bank, and pay each Palestinian a sum of money to enable them to establish a good life in their new homeland.

Why not pay the jews to move away from the Moslem countries ?

Blair, desperate to appear relevant as usual ,   No doubt he  will sort this out with compulsory ID cards

I think he's a horrible little man, but, changing the subject a little,  In one respect I take my hat off to him for grimly undertaking what must be an awful and onerous task, I mean she was never a looker was she and she will not have aged well

of all the to$$ers in  the world   Why Blair?

And as luck would have it ,his old friend Mandelson is currently available to assist, it will be just like old times,

How do these consummate seasoned failures keep getting these presumably very lucrative positions again and again?     Who sanctions it ?  and why?

Does Trump not yet understand that the future of Gaza and that of ALL the Palestinians is mothing to do with him at all.

As for appointing Tony Blair yo carry out his master plan; The words do not fail me. but if I posted them I would be banned for life at AN.

My cat would be a better choice and much cheaper as well.

Because there are no Jewish countries with the same Jewish religion and culture, but there are many nearby Moslem countries with religions and culture similar to that of the Palestinians, who are mostly Moslem. Got it?

Because the loss of Israel would be a detriment to the world and their country is more valuable than seeking to preserve a polity governned by a bloodthristy medieval culture.

Yes, the onus is on Israel to get the **** out their illegal settlements and stop harassing Palestinians or they will never have peace.

Well any ones who think all Jews and Christians should submit to the will of Allah, the ones who mandate death for changing religion or crisitizing Islam the ones who strap explosives on children and detonate them, the ones who burn captured prisoners alive, the ones who saw off the heads of hostages and kidnap victims, the ones who buy and sell slaves, especially sexual ones, the ones who homosexually rape prisoners, the ones who take hostages, the ones who can have multiple wives, the ones who beat their wives, the ones who do honour killings, the ones who scream for the destruction of the USA, the ones who murder hole villages in the Sudan, the ones who rampage through schools in Africa raping and slaughtering and mutilating, the ones who destroy their own homes, the ones that celebrate death, the ones that marry children. the ones that toss homosexuals off roofs.....

Yeah need a bit of reform there
