On my morning jogging route I encounter lots of soi dogs.

I have recently noticed that some have empty plastic water bottles tied around their necks.

The first time I noticed this, it was one male dog and actually ended up being a large gallon can. I assumed that this was to prevent him going through gaps in a fence or something.

But this morning three of a family of six dogs had 500ml empty water bottles tied around their necks. I managed to get one off, as the young female is more comfortable with me than hier siblings. I worry that tomorrow she will have a new (maybe tighter) one.

 

Can anyone shed any light on the reason for this cruel activity?

Why not ask the neighborhood? 

There might be a reason for it.

I wouldn't do anything to them unless you know the reason.
