The Ottomans attacked the Suez Canal in 1915 so they were driven out of Sinai and then in 1916 the Allies successful campaign began to push them out of Palestine and the Levant all the way back to Turkey. It ended with their surrender in October 1918.

You are very uninformed. I said the Levant of which Damascus is a part. British, Australian and French forces defeated the Ottomans there and in the rest of Syria. British forces also defeated the Ottomans in Mesopotamia. I have an interest in the subject because one of my grandfathers (French Army) fought at Gallipoli.
