Or something like that. So apparently, there is a subset of foreigners in Thailand who go on these dating apps and badmouth the freelancers. Maybe MalcolmB?

Most of the girls I spend time with these days have an infant child to a deadbeat Thai who has abandoned her. 

 

They are looking for financial security, not looks.

Being in the bar scene has nothing to do with the fact that some women end up with better lives than others. Some women marry financially well-off men and their lives are easier , etc ... it's the luck of the draw. 

 

Some women do have good careers of their own, but all the work they put into it makes their relationships suffer. 

 

And anyway, some women may end up being miserable in the bar scene after a while and suffer the consequences of never having tried to better their career or find a decent husband.

I think you maybe hearing only one side of the story. If they are not married, and have been sleeping around then they should have been using protection.
