Arcoxia and Myonal

Featured Replies

Yesterday I went to BHP about back pain. I could hardly walk. I explained that my back had been playing up lately, and I started taking Ibuprofen and Paracetamol, but these weren't working, and for the last two days, the pain when trying to walk was as bad as anything I've had before.

The Doctor, after an X-ray, injected me with KA 90, and I got the two mentioned drugs. I have stopped taking Ibuprofen, but is there another painkiller I can safely take on top of these?

Not a medic.....but had something 'similar' by the sounds of it ........... took Naproxen.

Worked wonders for me....but.....check with a real doctor first.

I was one prescribed Arcoxia for minor back pain. Very soon I noticed funny things, like a kind of bubbling, hard to describe, going on in my chest. I'd done my homework reading about COX-2 drugs and what had happened with Celebrex and Vioxx, so I stopped taking the Arcoxia and reverted to older NSAIs.

Naproxen works like Ibuprofen but much longer.

Arcoxia is already an NSAID so you would not take another NSAID on top of this.

Can you explain what you mean by injection of KA 90? I am not familiar with any drug by that name.

There are certainly other drugs that can be given for lower back pain (aside from NSAIDs) but several of the best options are only available in specialized spine clinics.

If the pain persists and does nto respond to rest and the meds given, you really need an evaluation by a good spinal specialist, which would likely include an MRI, and need a trip to Bangkok.

Best spine doctor in Thailand is

Can save both time and money by getting MRI first here (there is a branch in Bang Na convenient if driving up from Pattaya, and also a branch near Silom)

Bring xray film on CD with you, though as Prof Wicharn has his own protocol for spine Xrays might still need to repeat films at BNH.

Not on top...instead.........

•  Naproxen blocks both COX-1 and COX-2, which reduces inflammation but can irritate the stomach lining (COX-1 protects it).

Arcoxia targets only COX-2, aiming to reduce pain with less gastric side effect—but may carry higher cardiovascular risk.
