Police in Bangkok have arrested a Singaporean man and three Thai women for trafficking so-called “zombie vapes”, e-cigarette cartridges laced with Etomidate. The raids on 26 September 2025 targeted two properties in Huai Khwang and Din Daeng districts. Officers seized a total of 150 vape cartridges, ketamine, and assets valued at more than 8.3 million baht.

The Women and Children Welfare Protection Division and the Office of the Narcotics Control Board (ONCB) Bangkok led the coordinated operation. Two suspects, Ms Atchariya, 22 and Ms Khanapich, 27, were apprehended first at a property in Huai Khwang while delivering products to clients. They admitted to selling the Etomidate cartridges for 1,800–2,000 baht each, distributing between 50 and 100 units per day to wealthy clients and online influencers.

Acting on this information, police launched a sting at a Din Daeng condominium. There, they arrested Singaporean national Mr Kingley, also known as Tommy, 33 and his Thai girlfriend Ms Lalita or Ann, 24. Officers recovered 130 vape cartridges and over 1 million baht in cash from the property.

All four suspects face charges of trafficking Category 2 narcotic. In addition, the Singaporean man has been charged with overstaying his permission of stay. Authorities also impounded luxury vehicles linked to the suspects, reflecting the scale of the alleged trafficking network.

The crackdown follows Thailand’s reclassification of Etomidate as a Category 2 narcotic in July 2025. Previously a medical anaesthetic, the substance became popular in illicit vape cartridges due to its euphoric and sedative effects. However, overdoses can lead to unconsciousness, zombie-like behaviour, oxygen deprivation and even death, prompting health and safety concerns.

Officials said the investigation highlights the growing abuse of medical substances repurposed as recreational drugs. The targeting of affluent buyers and social media influencers has raised particular alarm, with police warning that demand is fuelling rapid distribution. The ONCB has pledged to continue monitoring supply routes and prosecuting those involved.

Court proceedings will determine the penalties for the suspects, who remain in custody. Authorities confirmed that the investigation is ongoing and further arrests may follow as evidence is assessed. Immigration officials will also review the Singaporean suspect’s visa violation alongside the narcotics charges.

8.3 million baht selling tapes...there's money in drugs that's for sure

The big problem is when a normal vaper is asked to try this “flavor “ and 💩 happens.

Luckily, they were able to prove that none of their branded clothing was counterfeit........
