Now WISE are lying about the transfer .

Originall they told me that the transfer would not be made until I verified my address.

Now I have just received this

Sorry, it’s looking like your transfer of GBP to THB will arrive later than expected.

Lots of people are using Wise at the moment, so it’s taking us longer to process transfers. It should now arrive on October 02, at 07:07 UTC.

We’ll let you know the moment your money’s on its way — and sorry again for the wait.

I don't believe they said that.

I can't believe that your email was different to mine. Mine said I had until 21 October to CONFIRM my address (via clicking on the red banner). Having done that they stated that my address was confirmed and they would revert if they required any additional information (like a document upload).

  • Ask the bank for the address to be transferred into English, wise will only accept English text. Have your wife have a Thai driving license ?, address should be in English on the back of the lice

I personally wonder whether this might all have to do with Wise's recent decision to relocate the centre of their activities from London to New York, as a result of which they and those who use their services will, presumably, be subject to American Federal Government legal requirements, regardless of whether or not individual users are American nationals and/or wish to make transfers to/from the mighty USD.

@NE1 - @beautifulthailand99's comments in the related thread on the Visas forum might also provide a meaningful insight into Wise's reasons for inflicting all this bureaucracy on us:

I got my UK license address updated for such an event and maintain my UK property ownership anyway.

Those are great points. I've got a similar setup with maintaining my UK property ownership + UK license.

I can also use my UK bank account address if needed, but the main pain point is not having any recent utility bills in the UK to prove residency. That's usually the part that trips people up?

Before my Wise address was UK and sending to my Thai bank account.

Will they require anything in that scenario ?

Are you all registered in Thailand with Wise..is that the issue ?

I've always wondered if you can actually change the address on a Wise account from a UK one to a Thai one, or if you have to create a new account entirely?

When you first set up a Wise account with a UK address, they send the card there. But if you travel and lose the card, they'll send a new one abroad, so I just assumed they didn't allow a full change of address. Have you heard anything different? 🤔

You can change the address anytime to anywhere

Ditto with the pink ID card? That's what I was really asking about.

I don't know, it may be an issue that it's in Thai only, while the Thai driving license is also in English. Just ask them, they're very responsive.

You can print out a bank statmenet as a pdf in your online banking..it should have your address.

Regarding getting a wise card overseas, I never had to do it so don't know..

Another possible issue is whether or not the pink ID card could arguably be regarded as a "National" ID card. The only document about which there appears to be cast-iron certainty regarding its acceptability by Wise is the Thai driving licence:
