The Airports of Thailand Public Company Limited (AOT) has engaged in high-level talks with global airlines and airports at the World Route Development Forum in Hong Kong, aiming to expand flight routes and enhance Thailand’s role as an international aviation hub. The three-day event, known as Routes World 2025, ran from 24 to 26 September at AsiaWorld-Expo and gathered over 770 aviation and tourism organisations worldwide.

AOT stated that its key objective at the forum was to secure new international routes and increase flight frequencies across its network of Thai airports. These initiatives are aligned with the company’s Air Service Development (ASD) Feasibility Study, which highlights opportunities for new global connections. Data-driven presentations and marketing support packages were offered to encourage long-term airline partnerships.

Strategic discussions are under way with a range of international carriers, including French Bee, Delta Air Lines, American Airlines, Plus Ultra, IndiGo, Air India, Virgin Australia, Jetstar, Shandong Airlines, Spring Airlines, Garuda Indonesia, Oman Air and Air New Zealand. These talks focus on creating fresh routes and strengthening Thailand’s links with major global markets.

AOT is also engaging directly with several airports worldwide to build connectivity. These include Perth Airport in Australia, Istanbul Sabiha Gökçen in Turkey, Kualanamu International in Indonesia, Los Angeles (LAX), San Francisco (SFO) and Taiyuan Wusu International Airport in China. The company stressed that route expansion is not limited to tourism but also supports trade, investment, employment and wider economic stability.

Participation in the forum also serves to strengthen Thailand’s international image, positioning it as a strategic hub for both aviation and tourism in the Asia-Pacific region. AOT emphasised that expanding routes will play a central role in boosting the country’s global competitiveness while supporting government-led infrastructure and economic development policies.
