Entering Malaysia via a land border with Thailand

Featured Replies

Hi there. Has anyone entered Malaysia from Thailand via a land  border recently? Does Malaysian immigration allow non-Malaysians to use the autogates for immigration clearance (ie no stamping of passports)?

Depends on if you are from one of the 63 Countries eligible to use the auto gates, and you completed the MDAC within 3 days of arrival.

I entered Malaysia via Pedang Besar last week. Immigration for non-malaysians is the same as it has ever been. No autogates, you go to Thai immigration, then Malaysian. And make sure you fill out the MDAC beforehand.

i think autogate only at airport and you can using it , depend of your nationality  they will no stamp on arrival and departure

This is the same for the Wang Prachan border crossing. The immigration officer there told me they're only used at the airports and not land crossings.

You mean online? And is it then in their computer system, or does one need to show their phone, or a printout?

You've already posted this question in the Southern Thailand forum, and the answer is still the same, the only land border with e-gates is Johor Bahru. Non-Malaysians can use e-gates, where present, but currently limited to 63 countries.

There were at the Bukit Kayu Hitam checkpoint when I was going from Hatyai to Malaysia a year ago but was advised by the Malaysian immigration officers that they were for Malaysian use only. I had to present my passport at the counter.

Thanks for the info.
