Question about modifications and impact on road worthiness test

Featured Replies

Hey had a couple questions about transferring a bike if anyone can help me. Im worried about the modifications to my bike when it gets its road worthiness test. Taxes werent paid for 2 years so even though its a 4 year old bike it will need to be tested. The modifications that worry me are:
  • Slip on exhaust
  • Covers on the frame that change the colour from black to green, covers meaning they come off if needed
  • Wire colour changes, like brake wires
  • Wheel alloy frames colour change but google says the wheels are not mentioned in the green book so do not matter but want to make sure here.
  • New seat
Thankyou in advance.

4 years old not need inspection, even taxes not paid for 2 years - if taxes not paid for 3 years then that's different...

As far as I know you can just pay for insurance, take your green book and insurance to DLT office and pay the back taxes, 200 baht, and 24 baht fine, and 100 baht for new tax and good to go...!

Yes color change of wheels and body

exhaust/muffler that does not have  a TIS stamp on it.

will be problems.

If changing owner then it is inspected.

Where did he say it's changing owner, did I miss that bit...!?

Also changing owner inspection is at DLT office, not the usual over 5 years old inspection center..., a bit different...

Transferring implies changing owner... but I guess it could also mean transfering book to another province.

Good luck.

Many problems ahead.

Did you have a Thai driver license? Then you know what's allowed and what is not.

why would having a Thai DL, mean you know what's required for bike test

Well, there is a booklet about laws and rules concerning street vehicles.

There it's all written. You have to know when going to do the test.

Changing province also requires an inspection.
