A 42-year-old man was killed in the early hours of 28 September after his motorcycle struck a barrier on an overpass opposite Future Park Rangsit shopping centre in Pathum Thani. The impact threw him off the overpass, causing fatal injuries at the scene below. Police and rescue teams arrived quickly but confirmed he had died instantly from a broken neck.

The incident occurred at around 03.30, when police at Pratunam Chulalongkorn station were alerted to the crash. Rescue workers from Rangsit municipality and volunteers from the Poh Teck Tung Foundation assisted in the response. At the site, officers found a damaged Honda Forza 350 motorcycle, bearing Bangkok registration, on the overpass heading towards Rangsit.

The motorcycle showed damage on its side, with scrape marks along the bridge barrier. Below the overpass, officers discovered the body of the rider, identified as Mr. Prawat Pongkan, a resident of Suan Phrikthai subdistrict, Pathum Thani. He was lying face-down in a pool of blood, with branches and vines tangled around him, indicating he had fallen into roadside vegetation before hitting the ground.

Documents including his ID card and driving licence were recovered, along with two mobile phones from the motorcycle. Police secured these items as evidence. The victim’s body was later sent to the Institute of Forensic Medicine at Thammasat University Hospital for an autopsy to confirm the cause of death.

Investigating officer Pol Lt Withawat Muangphonngern said initial findings suggest the victim may have been returning home but mistakenly entered the shopping centre access lane, which curves sharply. He lost control, struck the barrier and was thrown off the overpass. Relatives will be contacted to collect the body for funeral rites once the post-mortem is complete.
