In a startling discovery at Don Mueang airport, a Taiwanese man was detained for attempting to smuggle protected wildlife species out of Thailand. Customs officials spotted suspicious movements under the man's sweater using an X-ray machine as he prepared to board a flight to Kaohsiung International Airport in Taiwan. Upon inspection, several animals were concealed including two slow lorises, a squirrel, three otters, and two spiny turtles.

Customs and wildlife officials quickly confronted the passenger, Chiu Kuo-shu. After being ordered to remove his sweater, the animals were found wrapped around his torso within a white net. It was revealed that these were protected species, and possessing them without a permit was illegal under Thailand’s Wildlife Conservation and Protection Act.

Chiu Kuo-shu now faces charges for illegal possession of protected species, attempting to smuggle them out of Thailand, and violating the Animal Epidemics Act. Authorities stressed the seriousness of these offences, highlighting their commitment to preventing wildlife trafficking. The incident underscores ongoing efforts in Thailand to combat illegal wildlife trade, a persistent issue in the region.

Looking forward, the prosecution of such cases may serve as a deterrent to others considering similar offences. Thai authorities, along with international partners, continue to strengthen measures to protect endangered species and preserve biodiversity. Wildlife conservation remains a significant concern, with strict regulations aiming to safeguard Thailand’s natural heritage.

Smuggle this sack of sh!t out of the country in a white net, then drop him in the Vietnamese jungle and let nature take over.

I am sure border patrol will release the critters back to the wild.   🤣

I can understand why the spiny turtles weren't stuffed where the budgies reside. :coffee1:
