The 1st Army Region Command provided an update on 10 October 2025, on border activities in Sa Kaeo Province, affirming operations are continuing despite Cambodian objections. The update covers developments in Nong Chan and Nong Ya Kaew villages, involving crowd gatherings, unexploded ordnance (UXO) clearance and security deployments. Thai authorities state these measures are within Thai sovereign territory and lawful under national and international standards.

In Nong Chan Village, around 200 Thai citizens, including merchants and members of the press, gathered to symbolically affirm Thai sovereignty. On the Cambodian side, a crowd also assembled near the border. Thai forces established defensive perimeters to secure the area. In Nong Ya Kaew Village, activity was lower on the Thai side, while the Cambodian side had about 100 civilians and media personnel near the barbed wire fence and scattered in Preychon Village. Military, police and local officials have been managing the situation to ensure order.

Key operations include the deployment of one company of Crowd Control Police (CCP) to maintain security, alongside four specialised UXO search teams. These teams, supported by a D5 armoured bulldozer, are working to clear 38,256 square metres suspected of containing unexploded ordnance near Nong Ya Kaew Village. Officials emphasise the operation aims to ensure safety and is conducted under lawful procedures.

The International Observation Team (IOT) visited Sa Kaeo to monitor conditions along the border. Thai authorities briefed the team on the situation, stressing that operations address Cambodian encroachment and comply with Thai law and international norms. Cambodia, via the 51st Infantry Division, requested a suspension of UXO clearance, claiming it violated the General Border Committee (GBC) agreement. Thailand maintains its actions are within its own territory and not in disputed areas.

The 1st Army Region Command, through the Burapha Task Force, continues to maintain a strong presence in both villages. Lt. Gen. Worayot Lueangsuwan, Commander of the 1st Army Area, is personally overseeing operations. Thai officials state that force has not been necessary so far, and reaffirm their readiness to act decisively if the situation requires.

Key Takeaway

• The 1st Army continues UXO clearance and security operations in Sa Kaeo’s border villages.

• Cambodia has requested suspension of activities, claiming violations of the GBC agreement.

• Thailand maintains operations are within its sovereign territory and in line with international law.

The latest Thai dirty tricks (11th October 2025)

IMO only extremely warped Thai minds would dream up this (like the military) or perhaps they had been on the Thai whiskey!

The Thai military played eerie ghost sounds and dog howling, disturbing the sleep of residents in Chouk Chey and Prey Chan villages.

The “immoral and inhumane acts” by Thai soldiers, who blasted loud and frightening sounds at night in an attempt to intimidate Cambodian civilians and unarmed security forces in Prey Chan and Chouk Chey villages along the Cambodia–Thailand border, have failed to achieve their goal, as none of the Cambodians fled home and they continue to show patience and discipline.

Perhaps the Cambodians could blast loud offensive music into Thailand playing banned Western songs. There are many listed on Google but this is a good example:-

Notable example of a banned Western song in Thailand includes: (Google)
  • "One Night in Bangkok" (1984) by Murray Head: The Mass Communications Organisation of Thailand banned this song due to its lyrics. Officials stated the lyrics "cause misunderstanding about Thai society and show disrespect towards Buddhism". While the song is about a chess match, some of its lyrics refer sarcastically to Bangkok and its attractions, such as the red-light district and the reclining Buddha.
