Anyone started down this path using your EV as a solar battery?

Seems there are inverters out there that can work like in my picture with vehicle to house capabilities, just have to find the inverter with the same protocol the car uses.

Tried DEYE but they said no.

If anyone has done this, can you tell me the brand of inverter and brand of the EVES as it has to be bidirectional.

I have 4 ATS’s wired to a VTOL cable.

In a power cut I can power House Lights, Water Pump, Refrigerator, Air con in master bedroom and Internet/sockets in master bedroom.

Internet is a special case as we use long range WiFi to give Internet to 4 other houses here.

Not quite the same as VTOH.

Just checking with BYD Australia and while some EVES bidirectional devices can do it, seems BYD SL7 hasn't go the firmware upgrade to do it yet.

It appears V2H is in mid stage development. Dealing with high voltage DC and obtaining real time BMS data from an EV is a whole new level of complexity and safety concerns.

I wonder if manufacturers of V2H compatible EV's will change battery warranty conditions for those wishing to use the feature.

Was reading they have some bidirectional EVES now. They can function DC to AC and AC to DC.

Guess you are looking to AC couple the cars battery to a hybrid solar inverter which would require you purchasing an expensive bidirectional EVSE.

I would consider direct DC handling of everything in one box to be the most efficient solution but not sure if anyone has launched a product for this.

Correct me if wrong but it appears EV and solar inverter manufacturers are yet to find common ground with V2H systems.

I think you were right, but it's changing rapidly.

I think secretly they may have decided on a protocol but maybe EV manufacturers don't want to go there until they work out their car warranty.

Do you still get 8 yrs warranty if also using it as a VTOG or VTOH.

Powering my House from my EV - here are 3 videos from my channel they should be watched in order.

I think you miss a DC-DC converter between the EV and the inverter in the diagram.

I have a few links of a few companies on facebook who sell such a solution. Only doubts I have are about compatibility and safety with the BMS of the EV.

The solution is a bi-directional DC-DC charger [V2H] between the EV and a hybrid inverter like DEYE. And the trick is to feed the EV input into the solar array DC input of the inverter, while preventing the EV to feed the PV string using a blocking diode. During the day, when the solar array voltage is higher than the EV battery voltage, the EV will be charged. At times when the solar array voltage is lower than the EV battery voltage, the EV will feed into the inverter and thus the house.

In Bangkok there is a second hand EV shop that has implemented this solution. See this vid https://youtu.be/9URhDCrIcpU?si=H-YSxFDc4Ff_YtG2. In this video you can see that some BYD and MG EV's work with this solution.

Thanks for the reply.

Just finishing off my solar installation.

Seems BYD is not ready to allow this at the moment, something to do with what protocol to use. That's what I was told.

I've a Feyee 3 phase charger for the SL7 and charges at 15A/phase.

On single phase it charged at 35A but it can't charge at 35A on 3 phase.

So 11kW limited on AC.

I discussed this topic a bit in this discussion using the Sigenstor Bi-directional charger

These are the cars and countries that are compatible. The Sealion has been tested in Europe
