The Royal Thai Border Patrol Police (BPP) has deployed additional forces to support Provincial Police Region 2 in Sa Kaeo province, reinforcing security measures along the Thai–Cambodian border. The move aims to ensure public safety and uphold national sovereignty amid heightened vigilance in the border areas.

On 11 October, Police Lieutenant General Rungroj Thakornpunyasiri, Commissioner of the Border Patrol Police, confirmed that troops had already arrived in Ban Nong Chan, Sa Kaeo, and were fully prepared to operate. The deployment follows instructions from the Royal Thai Police Headquarters for the BPP to assist local police in maintaining order and protecting border communities.

Lt. Gen. Rungroj emphasised that all officers have been directed to perform their duties with dedication, bravery and restraint. He urged the troops to follow international tactical standards, remain composed in the face of provocation and enforce the law strictly to ensure the safety of residents while safeguarding the nation’s territorial integrity.

He added that the Border Patrol Police have maintained a full presence along the Thai–Cambodian frontier across seven provinces since July this year. In Sa Kaeo, the BPP has continued to coordinate operations with the armed forces, including providing support from EOD (Explosive Ordnance Disposal) and K-9 units to clear landmines in border zones. The commissioner confirmed that all operations have proceeded smoothly and that personnel remain safe.

Lt. Gen. Rungroj reaffirmed the agency’s commitment to national defence and public service, stating that the BPP will “continue to stand alongside the people and protect Thailand’s sovereignty from any external threat.” The coordinated security presence reflects ongoing efforts to strengthen stability and cooperation along the country’s eastern border.
