Police in Bangkok are investigating the death of a foreign man who fell from a hotel in the Silom area less than four hours after checking in. The incident occurred around 16.15 on 15 October, prompting a full forensic examination at the scene.

Investigating officer Police Lieutenant Apisak Niyomsuk of Yannawa Police Station said the alert was received from a hotel on Silom Road, Bang Rak district. Officers arrived alongside forensic police, a medical examiner from the Police General Hospital and Ruamkatanyu Foundation rescue volunteers. The man’s body was found in the hotel’s side car park area, lying face down in a pool of blood.

The deceased, believed to be a foreign national aged between 35 and 40, was wearing a black T-shirt and black trousers. He suffered severe head trauma, with a fractured skull and multiple broken limbs. No identification documents were found on him.

Initial inquiries revealed that the man had checked in to the hotel around midday and was staying on the 16th floor. Witnesses told police he appeared visibly anxious and distressed in the hours before the incident. Police are unsure if he may have fallen or jumped from his room balcony, with the exact cause remaining under investigation.

Lieutenant Apisak confirmed that authorities are working to establish the man’s nationality and identity through hotel registration records and CCTV footage. Forensic officers are also examining the balcony and surrounding area to determine whether foul play was involved.

The body was transferred to the Institute of Forensic Medicine at the Police General Hospital for autopsy. Police are awaiting official results and will notify the relevant embassy once the man’s identity is verified.

It was not reported that his name was unknown, it was reported that the police were checking his identity with hotel records.

Is there not an easier, less painful, way to suicide?

Ouch a rama.

Indeed. There should be, and freely available. Humans have committed suicide since the first caveman ran unarmed at a sabretooth tiger.

Yep, the pain is gone for that person. But his or her death leaves a hole in the jigsaw puzzle of life and a hole in the hearts of all who love them.

It's a hard question. But I'd rather see suicide painless for those who've made that decision.

you are right.. that is why they always needs tons of papers to check things out, while in an educated country the question at the reception and the copy of his passport were sufficient.. In Thailand everything must be checked not once but millions times with even so many copies and papers

Seems anxious and distressed should make them ask if he need help and call the police.
