Midea vs TCL Air Conditioners

Featured Replies

We have all Hitachi aircon.

  • Our initial Samsung unit worked well but sprang a leak after about 7 years, out of warranty, not repairable.
  • It's replacement Sharp inverter unit was useless, despite us having good results with Sharp TVs.
  • Finally replaced by a Hitachi inverter (gave the Sharp to family).

Good results from that unit and the two non-inverter Hitachi units in the spare bedrooms prompted us to go Hitachi inverter for our large A/C spaces.

I would not buy another TCL unit, we had bad no support for two TCL TVs, both failed under warranty but no spares available!! Even our local fix-it man couldn't make one from two. Dead loss.

Of course, as with all these things YMMV :whistling:

I have read many Thai reviews that prefer the Mistsubisi Electric (Mr Slim with aluminium coils) over the Mitsubishi Heavy Duty with copper coils. All claim tha the Mitsubishi Heavy Duty is louder.

We have a TCL TV still working fine after 4+ years.

Yeah, hence my YMMV comment.

TCL after-sales service has apparently improved, but it's a once-bitten situation.

The guy was here yesterday servicing and trying to repair one of my Samsung inverter units. Shorted out by a lizard. He claims Mitsu are the best, and recommends going with a non inverter unit. Especially if not used regularly, as is the case here. Says they last much longer in that scenario. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯
