White potatoes?

Featured Replies

I see them in Lotus and have tried to grow them several times, all unsuccessful.

Anyone had any luck with growing them?

Maybe too hot for them?

Never see them in the market so maybe all grown in the mountains?

Any ideas?

We suck at potatoes, and the other root veggies.  Either silly small, or half eaten :cheesy:

Luckily they're the cheapest veggies to buy :coffee1:  Figs do well (seasonal), and same with Asparagus.   Red / green peppers, growing, but really small.   Plenty of lemons, too many.

The info I have they come from China, our local weekly market sells them wife buys them often.

I have tried to grow them like you no luck very susceptible to virus diseases, which with Thailand's climate, there are a lot of them.

The ones you can get what verity they are I would not know, skins very yellow, cannot seem to do a lot with them; we bake them wrap them in foil and use the charcoal stove to cook them.

The ones I buy in Macro are not to bad, great for Mash, Chips and Roasts, I've even found some small New Potato, like salad potatoes, recently.

You will notice that the spuds have no shoots. This is because they are treated with weedkiller to prevent them. I don't thinkanybody grows spuds in Thailand, too hot.

All the ones I buy from Makro produce shoots in around 14 days.

At the market here 260-280 B for 10 kg.

Nice potatoes and they do grow shoots after a couple of weeks.

Makro and others too expensive.

Long beans are easy to grow .

It is a sprout suppressant, not a weedkiller, I use to work a big potato-growing farm and they put a powered sprout suppressant on the crop before going into store.
