From my very first 2 week visit in 1999 I knew I would eventually end up living here. I loved every aspect of Thailand. I then spent two and a half years here from early 2002 after originally taking a one year career break. Broke my heart to return home after that but made the decision to knuckle down at the age of 32, work my nuts off and retire at the earliest opportunity.

Hoped it would take 10 years based on favourable interest rates for savings and a still favourable GBP/THB exchange rate. Ended up taking nearer to 17 years but still very happy to knock the rat race on the head at the age of 49. Mission accomplished. That was 8 years ago.

Always thought Thai women were the prettiest and wanted to visit. Visiting, I found the wrong one to marry but created a beautiful, smart daughter so will move back to the US so she and I can have a life that more suits us. Thailand has proven to be how I heard and researched it was. If it wasn't for the women, most wouldn't be here, although it is cheaper to live than the west. Beautiful country in some ways and dirty and very behind in others. Not a good place for local women but easy for men that just want a younger woman than they could find in the west. All of this everyone here knows by now. It's good for some but bad for others, all depending on how you want to live.

If it wasn't for the women there wouldn't be anybody here,

Sex tourist then

100%

Now a sexpat like most of us.

Don’t try and tell me you don’t have sex with Thai women.

I have never met an expat here who has not had sex with at least one Thai woman.

Well, they would visit for the temples, beaches and food, but the only ones who would stay are those that would like them continuously, meaning beach lovers for the most part, as you can get great Thai food in the west also. Also those who want to live cheaper. If there weren't any women, they would have to be imported.

Honestly, don't know about that. Many came for the women, but stayed for other reasons.

Most aren't sexpats besides the tourists. Most who live here are married or with steady girlfriends.

Where about in Thailand for the first visit?

Another word salad from Fred.

Sexpats is a play on the word expat.

Which is short for expatriates.
Which means they are not tourists.

Steady girlfriend or married to a Thai still makes you a sexpat in my book if you have sex with the local women.

And I don’t know any expats here who do not have sex with Thais.

Unless your daughter was immaculately conceived?

Foreigner centric nonsense.

Those poor women down south in Thailand got bequeathed with the lowly beachfront land whilst their privileged brothers got left the agricultural land. See how that worked out...

When you mix with the lowest rungs of society, you see a picture from that perspective. I don't think Paetongtarn Shinawatra would share your views, nor any of the successful Thai women that I know. They seem to be doing okay in the 'terrible' environment that you describe.

If the flights weren't so expensive, people would still be flocking to Thailand from the West.

Looking forward to reading your posts from the good ole USA. When's that going to happen?

I don't. But then I'm not officially an expat and you don't know me 😊

That you see that as a word salad, or anything else I've ever said, shows you aren't up to speed on what it means. I think you just aren't good at comprehending. A sexpat is someone who comes here for sex. Expats are people who settle in other countries .Your book needs editing. I didn't say expats didn't have sex, as all others worldwide do.

There are very rich in every country, and more so stand out more in poor countries. That they're born here has nothing to do with those who visit and move here. Quite different. Everyone here knows how Thailand really is unless they rarely leave their condos or villages. It has little to do with expensive flights as they've always been consistent. Thailand will lose more tourism every year because of the lack of enforcement of crimes here, and how more and more foreigners are being victimized. By the way, you're very obvious because in every username, you talk exactly the same.

I have zero interest in sex at my age, waste of time, rather have a good dump any day

Read the definition again. That doesn't mean all expats but certain ones. Just as I said. It's mostly tourists. Now change your username back to your regular 4 other ones.

Playing the victim now

Sorry but you are just babbling. I arrived thirty five years ago, so have a better idea of how things really are than you. Thirty five years later, people are still arriving. Don't let the door hit you on the way out.

Amusing how you go along with another also wrong. One that changes usernames like underwear and always acts the same. You're both wrong, and quite the same in character.

You read the definition again and then compare it with what you claimed:

You were wrong. A Sexpat is an Expat, not a Tourist.

The OP was about when you moved here.

You wouldn’t kick Lamyai out of bed.

Just weird. You've been proved wrong, but yet you still try to pretend that you are right and everyone else is wrong. Pathological.

I tried telling him already.

Give up, he will just do your head in.
