Canada is crushing it

I gotta say I'm very impressed with the way Mark Carney has handled the very hard situation he found himself in when elected PM. He's been firm and calm in the way he's handled the <deleted>housery of the <deleted>, and he seems to have a very clear idea of the path he must follow to guide Canada through these troubled times.

He doesn't make a spectacle, there's no TACO BS, just calm, competent work. Definitively an improvement over the lightweight Trudeau.

Canada and the US: two neighboring countries, once close allies, with two completely different leaders. One is calm, competent, intelligent, with morals. The other one is the complete opposite. Sane Americans must look to the north and go "why can't we have that??".

'Trump refuses to meet Carney in deepening trade feud'

https://archive.ph/rgYas#selection-2245.8-2245.59

"Donald Trump has refused a meeting with Mark Carney as the trade feud between the US and Canada deepens.

The US president announced on Sunday he would be hiking tariffs on Canadian goods by an additional 10pc and terminated all trade talks.

It followed what he called a “fake” anti-tariff ad campaign that featured the late ex-president Ronald Reagan."

So Americans love Canada, but the feeling isn't mutual anymore. This is one of the least surprising bits of news ever received.

'‘They Hate Donald Trump’: Harry Enten Delivers An Ice-Cold Reality Check On Canada'

https://www.yahoo.com/news/articles/hate-donald-trump-harry-enten-063120646.html

"Canada, he noted, is “far more popular” in the United States than Trump himself, citing a net favorability rating among Americans of +49 percentage points for Canada versus -10 for Trump.

When it comes to how Canadians view the U.S., Enten said the feeling isn’t mutual. “They hate Donald Trump, they hate everything that he’s doing,” he said, noting that the share of Canadians who now view America as “an enemy or potential threat” has soared from 7% in 2023 when former President Joe Biden was in office to 48% today.

“The Trump administration has a net popularity rating in Canada of -58 points,” Enten added, “so Americans love Canada but Canadians no longer love the United States of America.”"

Imagine having a leader who is focused on delivering for his country, instead of focused on settling old scores and grifting.

Followed his career from when he became Gov Bank of England, 2013.....very impressive.....cool, calm and collected.

Carney has consistently made Trump look like the absolute fool that he truly is, he is out negotiating Trump at every turn and Canada is very effectively finding alternatives for the great products that it produces.

The word is getting around and a lot of people are just saying I don't need to go there, there are many other options for me, and especially with the Canadians where tourism is down about 80%. He has pissed off a very good and reliable ally that we fought two world wars with. And Carney is really smart, he's found alternative buyers for the highest quality lumber in the world, a lot of Canadian gas and oil is no longer available to the US, rare earth materials which the US will no longer have access to, steel, aluminum and so many other products that will drive up US prices dramatically. The level of Trump idiocy is so astonishing it cannot even be comprehended. History will not be kind to this circus clown.

I'd question the validity of this survey, or perhaps I'm misunderstanderating the results.

Why not simply post the numbers?

Canada should have a 100% approval rating!

Like, who doesn't love Canada, eh?

Exactly. Neither the clown nor most of his supporters have any true understanding of how incredibly destructive his policies are, and what the long-term ramifications will be.

There is no significant amount in manufacturing that's coming back to America, there are a dozen valid reasons why manufacturing disappeared in the first place. If Trump was the tiniest bit sincere about his policies he would do all his manufacturing in the US rather than in China. But we're dealing with a man who's not sincere about anything, and never has been. Except maybe money and corruption.

Perhaps Trump is feeling emasculated that the Canadians did a much better job of destroying the White House.

Ah, but give him another six months and I'm sure he'll show those Canucks how it's really done!

Quote

In May 1814 the 4th ((King's Own) Regiment of Foot) were sent to North America to contribute to the War of 1812. The British, urged by the governor of Canada were to attack New York and Washington. The regiments involved in the attack on Washington were the 4th, 21st, 44th, 85th and the Marines. The Americans were badly led by Brig-Gen William Winder and Gen Tobias Stansbury. They decided to make a stand at Bladensburg but they were routed and the Americans ran through the streets of Washington so fast that they inspired a poem, 'The Bladensburg Races'. Washington was badly damaged by fire caused by British troops.
